anybody ever experienced these side effects?
« on: February 10, 2007, 10:05:03 PM »
First time posting.  I appreciate all of the good info to be had on this board, and unlike many newbies I researched PCT etc, BEFORE starting.  46 years old, been training off & on for 30 years.  5'07", 195, 10% BF.  Recently began first cycle of test cyp 400 mg / week + deca 200 mg / week.  Arimidex 0.5 mg eod.  My PCT is all lined out.  Got my stuff legally from an HRT clinic. Am training hard and eating well.
Just finished my third week.  Have noticed a bit of water retention in my legs, but no where else.  About a week & a half into this, I began having severe pain as well as some numbness in one of my feet.  I know it is not a mechanical injury, because I haven't done anything to incur injury.
The foot pain has me perplexed because it is so intermittent but severe.  Anyone else experienced this as a result of either test or Arimidex?
Thanks.

Never heard of this.

Since you are getting this stuff through "legal" means, definitely talk to them about it...hopefully they should be able to offer you some sort of resolution.

Have you had your blood pressure checked? It could be running on the high side. Have it checked.

I don´t think you´re problem is AAS  related.
Go see your doc asap.

No mention of back pain or radiation down the back of the leg, so I'm thinking this is not sciatica or some disc-related problem.

Most likely a tarsal tunnel syndrome from pressure along the posterior tibial nerve as it enters the tarsal tunnel on the plantar-medial aspect of the foot.  This would be comparable to carpal tunnel syndrome at the wrist, which is also common at the onset of a cycle due to an increase in water retention.

Should get it checked out.  Often, there is a flexible flatfoot associated with it, and with an orthotic that supports the arch and provides medial posting to the foot to discourage pronation, it will resolve.

Thanks for all of the replies.  Had my blood pressure checked two days ago-118/78, so that seems to be fine.  Have been injecting gluteus medius, gluteus maximus, & delts.  My wife is a nurse and has given thousands of injections (including mine) so I am confident that is not an issue.
My primary physician diagnosed it as a bunion, but I don't believe he's right.  Had some x-rays taken (by my wife) and there do not appear to be any abnormalities.  The wierd part is that it does not hurt to walk on it; as a matter of fact, that's when it feels best.  It hurts most at night when I lay down, and the pain is pretty severe.  Feels like someone is sticking an ice pick into my big toe.  The only way I can get any relief is to dangle my leg over the side of the bed. Am planning on going to see an orthopaedic specialist, and yes I will be honest about AAS.
Freakfest, thanks for your reply especially.  I will make sure I mention tarsal tunnel to my doc.
Once again, thanks to all of you who took the time to reply.

At your age, the sides from anabolics will show more prevalently than with younger users.

The water retention is due to the action of the Cypionate as Testosterone retains salt and fluids in the body.

Those dosages are light, but you may want to up the Arimidex and see if that helps.

As far as your foot problem, that sounds more like a training issue, and separate from the HRT you are on.

I believe you are right on DIV.  About a week ago I increased my Arimidex from 0.5 mg eod to 0.75 mg eod on the assumption that water retention may be the source of my pain.  The pain did not completely disappear, but I achieved a 90% reduction within a couple of days.  I can now sleep through the night without my damn foot waking me up ten times.  Might sound silly to let a pain in my big toe bother me so much, but I tell ya, it was like somebody sticking an ice pick in my foot.
