Oh boy the old cabbage soup diet...I did that when I was a teenager (a long time ago in a galaxy far far away). That soup is dreadful. If I want a high protein low carb/low fat soup I make chicken soup. Skinless chicken breasts (they have a little fat on them, leave it on to flavor the soup), carrots, celery, leeks, an onion, parsnips, a turnip/rutabega, salt/pepper, parsley/dill. Clean and chop and throw in a big pot. Fill with water. Heat to boiling (it will take a while), then let it simmer for like 3 hours on loooowwww heat. Only drawback is it does need a lot of salt. But it's a convenient way to have lunch every day for a week, and get really full and eat lots of veggies. And that's a lower-fat version of my Russian grandmother's chicken soup.
