Actually they're the easiest fish you'll ever have to clean. ZERO bones and you can fillet it out faster than a regular fish of equal size though you need a sawzall to get through the hide. If you like alligator tail or chicken tenders, gar have that consistency. It's just back woods talk that prevents people from eating them, I'd rather eat gar over a fucking catfish that eats dead shit off the bottom all day.

mmm that gar looks tasty. i just ate some salmon myself. about 12 ounces of it may not have been cooked the healthiest but guess what it tastes good and still has health benefits of some sort. bass fishing on the 28th and then in may i start trout fishing on the great columbia river. there's a spot somewhere below the grand coulee damn a place called roofus woods i think it is 8-10 pnd trout is common 12-15 is a good catch. two a day limit tho. oh well take off training for a week and catch some protein why not. come back with a couple hundred pounds of fish. thats what i'm talking about. and not to forget weekends man go to the lake flirt with some babes go trolling catch some bass. then grouse season opens up in the fall along with deer hunting. hoping to get some rabbit tho man that stuff tastes great. besides ammo is cheaper than meat at the store. wanna go get me an elk sometime soon. throw that and a deer in your freezer along with a couple hundred pounds of trout 50 pnds of bass a few grouse, maybe 30 pheasant why not. great meat and well wildlife is over populated in my area.

gars are definitely ugly, but they are fun and easy to catch. they usually are very still and stay in one spot and just sit there, and with a spotlight at night, you can see them pretty well.
