As humans, we are vulnerable. Religion gives hope to many.
The belief that there is something more. That their life on Earth will mean something, much greater and more profound. That after they die, they will transcend to some magical utopia.
I believe that there is just one life. And that we only get one shot at it. We live, die and become dust. Merging back into the earth. Our existence simply mirroring every other living organism on this planet.
I think I have to agree - it's nice to think there is something after this, but I think you're right - we live life the fullest of our capacity and then we're gone - with a new cycle of energy starting some place else. What makes us different than the raccoon or deer that's dead at the side of the road? Religion?? Please........
