They actually just followed guys around and took pics of them training and they actually set down their REAL workouts and REAL weights.

There was a great series on albert beckles by garry barlett in 1983 or so.

albert only did 4 sets of 2 exercises each for biceps and triceps with pretty low weights, high reps and very fast rep speed.

Agreed - once I discovered Musclemag in the early nineties it was so much more genuine than Flex. That's just the same regurgitated shit year on year.
