LAST NIGHT'S UFC PPV!!!!
« on: July 08, 2007, 10:13:01 AM »
OK, I will start a thread!

First fight between Nog and Herring was OK. Herrings face was pretty bad after the fight. The decision was a good one with Nog getting the edge.

Second fight was OK as well. Sherk is definitely a beast, but couldn't finish Franca. Sherk was just WAY too strong for Hermes. I would love to see Sherk fight Penn in the next few months. I will go with Sherk if he looks as good as he did last night.

Third fight was the much anticipated fight between Tito and Rashad. Rashad came into this fight way more cocky than he has ever been. Well, he couldn't back up his smack talk......He stayed away from Tito and danced around most of the fight. The only time he looked REALLY good was the last minute of the fight. Too little, too late. Give the point back to Tito for the foul, and Tito is the winner.

Main event was pretty good. Anderson really took it to Nate. Nate looked solid, but couldn't handle ANdersons aggression. Maybe a little too early of a stoppage though.

Last fight of the night was actually one of the best! Florian looked damn good. He was dropping elbows at a furious pace. Florian may be a dork, but he is a highly skilled fighter. I don't know that he has what it will take to beat Sherk or Penn, but he is top 3 in my eyes.

Overall, an average PPV. Worth the money in my book. Can't wait till the next PPV!!!

The real fight of the night was Jorge Gurgel's fight.  I also wanted to see Edgar/Bocek.  Herring gave Nog too much respect when he had him hurt (more like ko'ed) and it cost him the fight.  Tito/Rashad- the only thing that surprised me was how tired Tito looked in the middle of the third, he only comes in like that if he's hurt, but he claimed to be healthy so maybe he's just getting lazy, or old.  Other than that I expected the standard cautiousness, lay n pray , stand n pray that comes with a Tito fight.  Sherk shut Franca's ass down almost all 25 minutes, with the exception of those two knees.  It may not have been the most exciting fight to some, but I appreciated the technical aspect of it, Sherk's wrestling, and sub defense were on like shit.  Florian is still overrated.  Silva/Marquardt- I was rooting for the underdog in this one, and he appeared to be doing well at first.  His boxing was pretty good and he even landed a few good shots on Silva,in addition to scoring a takedown, but in the end he got caught by one of those precise lasers that Silva calls punches.  Mach Sakurai was in the house, I wouldn't mind seeing him pimp slap Ken-Blo a few times.  Overall, for having so many big names the card didn't really seem to live up to the hype, and I look forward to the next one.

Too many people downplay Tito's two previously injured knees, back and neck.  He may have to face facts that physically he may never be the guy he once was and change his game increasing his skillset instead of just trying to be the monster he once was.  Sherk and Franca was a clinic.  Sherk's passing was unreal, but Hermes Turtle defense was great as well.  IF Penn is in shape, he will maul Sherk.

This is really surprised me as well.  As usual I was less than impressed by Rashad.  He should consider the draw he was given a gift.

I was telling someone that yesterday, Penn's wrestling is actually on point, plus if you do get him on the floor, he's almost impossible to hold down.  The only advantage Sherk would have is his cardio.

That's also my opinion.  And for Sherk/Franca, how can 2 guys fight for 25 minutes and still not have bloody noses, black eyes, swelling, cuts?  Looked like they had been on a date, not in a fight! I hope BJ smokes Sherk.  Silva looked impressive and Franklin looks scared.  Herring gave that fight away.  Kenflo, say what you want but that gets more impressive with each fight.  I'd like to see him fight either Fisher or Stevenson with the winner getting a title shot.

BJ gives Matt Lindland, Randy Couture fits, his wrestling is the most underated aspect of his game.
