2 very important questions...
1. what type of glucosamine is in the product? I am guessing it is HCL which is the cheapest form and breaks down the fastest in the bloodstream. If this is the case I would go get a product that has a blend of N-Acetyl Glusoamine and Glucosamine Sulfate. These 2 types are more expensive to produce BUT hold up MUCH better in the bloodstream and have a considerable impact on if the product will work.
2. Is the pain related to a lack or cartilage or is it more tendon related? If it is clicking/popping it is most likely a lack of cartilage and you are good with the glucosamine BUT if it more like "tennis elbow" or tendinitis you want to focus more on MSM. MSM is a natural sulfur that helps reduce inflammation, it is extremely safe and helps rebuild stomach lining so it would be hard to overdo it. Anyway, if you think it could be more this problem I would take 5,000+ milligrams a day, when my wrists start aching I will take up to 9,000 milligrams a day for about a week. There won't be nearly enough in your current product which probably has 500 mg's.
Hope this helps.
