Unsigned draft picks
« on: August 14, 2007, 05:21:46 AM »
Who's left? Revis and Jamarcus correct? How do jets fans feel about Taney refusing to ink Revis a 5 year deal like all the other players drafted  around his spot? The jets wont even do a six year deal with a voidable sixth year? Missing all this camp / preseason time has all but guaranteed this kid wont start this year. Weird Mangini and Tany gave up half there draft on a kid who they refuse to give a fair deal (imo). I thought the jets recent secondary injuries and thin nature at the position as a whole would cause them to budge, guess not.

Whats the story with Jamarcus? how do Browns fans feel about Quinn?

I think Cleveland will forgive Quinn if he can bring in some victories.  Anybody can be a hero if they help the team win there.

Those fans deserve it  . . . if they don't then the Lerner family should sell the team to an owner who gives a damn about football.

Can't figure out what the Jets are doing.
they also have another problem with disgruntled O-lineman Pete Kendall.
he wants to be cut but the Jets won't do it.

I grew up in Cleveland.  Man they loved the Browns.  And they hated Elway.  Football is everything up there.  I had an uncle who intentionally ran his car into a tree, he was so mad about the Browns losing a game during a playoff run.

Quinn is a tad pompous, but he has been brought back down to earth a bit as the ESPN cameras zoomed in on his draft day tumble.  hopefully a few face-smashings, and he'll be humble.

jamarcus wants everything guaranteed.  He might have been more hype than worth, and feel guaranteed money will help when/if he's exposed as a fraud.

Why? Fuck Cleveland. They're in our division and they have Jamal Lewis as their starting running back.

I couldn't give two squirts of piss for the Browns.

I love that the Ravens used to be the Browns. Fuck 'em. Baltimore was more deserving of getting a football team than Cleveland was of keeping theirs. The city couldn't give a shit about that team and it's run down facilities and field so Modell took the team to a city that provided the hook up.

Now they have a team and Browns fans can quit acting like little fucking girls about 1996. It's been ten years, already. Get the fuck over it.

Go ravens!

Impressive 29-3 home victory, by the way. It's pre season but the Ravens look good, fellas! Mcnair looked sharp and Mcgahee looks like the real deal!

Revis signed. Looks like the kid is catching on fast. Could be a very nice player. Jets just traded kendal. I think they are giving up on this season to continue to rebuild. The offensive line is horrible at this point, and the entire d line is better suited for the 3 / 4. Vilma  had no tackles vs the Vikes. He would be so much better of a player in a 3/4.

Yeah but Kendal seems to cause trouble wherever he goes, another guy with a big mouth. He's been running his mouth every day in the New York media to a point where the Jets couldn't keep him.

I dont disagree with you at all. But it cannot be ignored how thin the jets offensive line was with Kendal there. It is now paper thin. kendal was the best linemen they had. I think a fourth for him in 09 is a great pick. Imo Mangini is stocckpiling picks and adding key cogs to a eventual core. Ala patriots 2001. I think the jets are still at least a year away.

Imo the jets should trade Vilma to a 4 / 3 where he can excel. He is far to small to be an effective lb in the 3/4.

I bleed Giants blue but the Jets have a solid start for the future with D'brickshaw and especially with Mangold at center, that kids a mauler.gonna be a great center for years in my opinion 8)

I agree Mangold is a key peice to there puzzle. Great player. D brick is another story. Has some "bust" to him imo. The jets biggest weakness are there lines. The offensive line is sub par, and the defensive line needs more key players and a star lb better suited for the 3/4. Vilma is a great player. Just not in the 3/4 imo.

Well they got that inside LB Harris from Michigan,so maybe Vilma plays somewhere else next year?

Could be. Harris looks like he will be a nice player. Imo Vilma is just to small for the 3/4. The guy would be awesome in a 4/3. The jets would win big if Harris could step up and they could move Vilma for a nice pick or a nice trade to get some depth on there lines. The jets defensive line is better suited for the 4/3 imo.

Look at all the stunts and blitz's the pats will throw at the jets offensive line in the opener. The jets knew how important kendal was to that line. Loud mouth or not he was a key contributer. Mangini is no fool. He is building. They wiould not have let him go had they had the puzzle close to complete. How could they? I think the jets have some great players and had a good year last year. But I believe they will take a step back this year due to there schedule and also the fact they are trying to build something that can win for years.

Caught the Jets Giants game today. Revis looked very good. Harris looks like a pretty solid pick. Revis needs to tackle better. But for the amount of time he missed the kid looks great. Like him a lot. D brick is looking more and more like a bust at this point. He got beat at will for the second week straight. Mangold looked good. He is a nice player. The d line as a whole looked pretty bad aside from Mangold and Coleman. Jets dont have the personal to run a 3/4 imo. They need to run a 4/3 to get the best out of there defensive players. 3/4 requires a huge nt to free up the lb's.They need a big assed run stopping lb.The jets are wasting the talent of Vilma and Dewayne running a 3/4 imo. Im no coach but Vilma is 100 percent a 4/3 player. hes far to small to be effective in the 3/4. Cant use that extreme athleticism because he can be run over by backs.

The jets offensive line is absolutly pathetic. The Giants have no one on defense. Jets left there starters in vs the second string giants defense. They still got schooled. Tani needs to do something about that line. If they can fix up that lline things would be a whole lot brighter. Jones was a great pick up. He wont be effective if he is getting hit behind the line of scrimmage do to a poor offesive line tho. Same goes for leon, he is most effective in the open field. With that line he wont ever see it. Pennington is going to be killed if something is not done. Clemens has been having a good camp. Chad has looked pretty bad all year. What do the jets fans think about Clemens starting over Chad? I like Clemens a lot.

Mangini was part of the regime that benched a proven starter for some 6th round pick no one ever heard off. Worked out pretty good. Could happen. This is the preseason, just an observation.

I was really hoping to see Walter step up in Russell's child-like absence.  It seems that the other two quarterbacks should have done more with their opportunity despite Culpepper being brought in.  Hopefully the Raiders don't sign this loser Russell.  I have seen him play in person and wasn't that impressed overall, but then I never am by running QB's.

Do you think he is going to be a bust? Quinn has looked pretty damn good. I think he is starting before the end of the first quarter of the season.

Walter is a bust now (really fun to watch live) but seems to have some mental issues since coming to the NFL.  Russell is nothing great IMO and is a glorified McNabb IMO.  I could be wrong but seeing him play was more, "why doesn't anybody tackle this guy, he has no protection".  He can't run like Vick and he looked great against shitty defenses.  I like Quinn a tad more but never saw him love.  To me, the Culpepper of old is what people hail Russell as but we have yet to see it.  I think, despite what I think about Daunte, he will get this year done pretty well or be screwed for another starting job.

Side note:  Let's see McNabb lose his starting job!   8)
