Makes sense from a marketing perspective.  I wanna see his chin tested.  He has only fought a can.  Feed him to Vera, see how he does.

I'd like to see him fight a couple of more times before I can say how good he'll be. His first fight didn't seem too impressive actually.

I thought it was a good debut.
He was understandably nervous, but he hits like a hammer.

I'm not sure about his opponent though, didn't seem to take the punishment very well ;D

I'd still like to see a couple more fights before I judge him, it may have been nerves, but the guy has been in front of huge crowds before, so I wouldn't think that would bother him so much. Plus his wrestling career in college was top notch, he must have dealt with this pressure before :-\ Like I said...... couple more fights....we'll see.

Yeah he layed some hard bombs on dudes face. I still question his stand up, nor have we seen him on his back. So once those two points have been shown I will give him some credit.

considering the UFC doesn't have rankings, I'll file this under "mindless rhetoric"

Yeah, I wouldn't put him in there with a good striker yet if I'm building him up.
I think someone like Cheik Kongo would be dangerous for him. This is all speculation of course.

I think he has potential to be great because of his natural athleticism and college record.
He's very fast for a big man.

His nervousness is different from Pro wrestling because he knows everyone is wondering if he can REALLY fight. There's pressure to impress fast because of the stigma he carries as a WWE guy.
Brock does it to prove himself; he doesn't need to make money this way.

wouldn't be so sure on that, from what I've heard he was very careless with the money he earned in WWE, bought himself a private plane to fly from gig to gig, etc, etc. Sued WWE over the right to compete, after he signed a five year no-compete clause to get out of his contract with them, claiming he needed to make a living and wrestling was the only way he knew how. He and WWE reached a settlement and here we are........I believe he can do MMA, but he can't do "spots entertainment".

busting someone balls for leaving out an L is soooo petty  ;D

I hear what your saying but at this point I think it's based more on false hope than anything he's done on the mat

Or could it be that he's nervous because this is real.... You don't know when your opponent is gonna hit you. This is not a routine this is live... I don't see Brock being very good of getting out of someone mounting him, that's his size. Someone smaller he will buck out of it. Large heavyweight with his power I just can't see him getting out of it. I think gonazage on the ground would own him.

Well he is an accomplished collegiate wrestler.

Quote
Lesnar finished his amateur career as a four-time all-American, two-time big-ten Champion and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.[7][8]

I don't know much about collegiate wrestling, but that sounds pretty good.

He's also going to be bigger than most of the heavyweights he's up against.
A strong wrestler is probably the toughest guy to beat.
Brock is very strong, and a very good wrestler.

I didn't know about the WWE thing. I heard he tried out for the NFL and didn't make the cut.
I would think TNA would want to pick him up, but perhaps not if he has a reputation for being a pain.
In any case, if he's going to make a mark on the MMA world he has to prove he's legit.

I agree, Gonzaga would be a dangerous opponent for him.
But his skill and size mean few people could match him in a grapple.
I think Randy would have trouble with him.

Only problem with that is he has to have a strong strike to takedown game.. I can't just see him rushing in and doing a double leg takedown.. Nor a single unless he has a chin and would take the risk of eating a kick.. If his chin is weak a solid knee or kick on his route for takedown would spell disaster and I can't see that taking to long to find out... Randy might have trouble if they both just kept wrapping up.. Brock just better practice his strinking so he can cut the ground in half and get in for the clinch other then that I see him getting in trouble.

That would be true, but there's not many guys in the heavies that can kick effectively.

Arlovski? He just stands there and jitters for 20 minutes.
Sylvia? No.
Randy? No.
Kongo? Yes.
Gonzaga? Yes.
Cro Cop?  :P

So by your own account by his second fight getting him to a title shot he would face somone that would smash his face in.... Either by a knee or a kick.. And I don't know I might even say Big Tim would see his big ass shooting in.. Tim is a lanky man.. But slow.. I wouldn't call that one either way.. Gonzaga would eat him up from what we know same with Kongo and I would even say Crocop.. Fedor would be a interesting one but I call Fedor by first round... lets hope Brock trains his ass off huh... That way he isnt a flop.....

I think Kongo has a chance to beat him due to kicks; I didn't say he would win for sure.
I can kind of picture Brock eating a roundhouse to the face.  ;D
However, If he doesn't take him out fast, he's not going to get Lesnar off of him. It's 50/50 imo.

Tim is slow and terrible. Worst UFC champion in history. I would bet that Brock will beat him.

Gonzaga I think would beat Brock badly.

Cro Cop would probably lose. After seeing how badly he was taken down and smashed in the face by Gonzaga...
I think Brock could do the same.

Randy might have trouble because of Brock's size. Brock wouldn't trade with him like Gonzaga did.
He would try to manhandle Randy and smash him on the ground. Possible bad matchup for Randy.

Arlovski? No. Just no. Same deal. He wouldn't trade, he would take him down quickly.

Like I said it's all based off how good Brock's stand up striking is.. He has to be able to get to the takedown. I am sorry you just don't walk in and take a good fighter down. You have to have a strike to takedown gameplan set up. At least in my opinion. Which doesn't just mean throw some sloppy bullshit. Fedor is good at this because he is respected as a striker. Randy same thing.. But perfect example is BJ Penn. He totally is respeceted standing and on the ground.

Until we get to see Brock in a couple of more fights, we will never know how good/bad his standup is, I would imagine his ground game should be top notch, but.........we will have to wait, trying to find a good matchup for him against bigger names is lame really, the guy only has one fight under his belt.

Well known, good athlete, good at takedowns.

No guard game to speak of.

Suspect striking skills.

Suspect chin.

No clinch game.

No submission defense.

Arlovski, Vera, Nog, Napao, Randy, would have their way with him.  Mir, could sub him from the bottom.  I don't see him being champ anytime soon.

IMHO IF Hunt is really getting to UFC , i think he would break Brock into pieces at 1st round

Add Werdum to that list, he would sub him and probably outstrike him.  I saw clips of Brocks training for his last fight and his poor attempt at striking made me want to vomit.  Sylvia would hurt Brock and from the accounts at Miletich both he and Matt Hughes beat him all over the place in training.  As long as any of these guys are in the UFC the same time Brock is he won't amount to much.
