When i watch FOX news...
« on: November 07, 2007, 11:06:40 AM »
I watch MSNBC at home, and FOX news at the gym (weights and cardio), so I see a lot of both.

Whenever FOX does a news piece, they always label the democrat.  But not republicans.  Like a story will talk about "Former President Democrat Jimmy Carter met with...", but never labels the republicans.  Also anytime they talk about hilary, they're pretty fair about it, but they often show poorly lit video of her where she looks like a hag.  It'll be shot from far away, she'll look chunky or something.  MSNBC has full lit standard reel of her.

Also last night, they mentioned Ron Paul earning $4M in a day.  Then for no reason at all, Brit Hume says "Ron Paul campaign team denied their ticket was about taking over the govt, just fixing it".  I mean, why even put that into the listener's mind, that Ron paul supporters would do such a thing?

FOX doesn't seem to like Ron paul, but many republicans do.

If he keeps raising money like he did the other day then people (including Fox News) will have to start paying attention.

IMO, he's the one republican who actually would easily win the general election.  He'd make Hilary look like a cold evil woman.  His positions are a bit disruptive tho, and would lead to big changes here.  I think people want the status quo.

I'm not so sure about that.  Some of his positions are so radical that once people start actually paying attention and examining them he might have a very hard time in the general, even against someone as polarizing as Hillary.

I actually think that of the candidates currently in the race that Rudy has the best chance to beat Hillary.  Successful mayor of NYC, cleaned up the city, tough on crime, leader during 911, and he's pro choice.  His biggest hurdle is getting the Republican nomination.

Funny, I've spoken with Democrats who hate Hilary and say they won't vote in 2008 if she gets the nomination.

I've spoken with Republicans who hate Rudy and, like the above, will not vote in 2008 if Rudy gets the nomination.

Yet, I've seen a few Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians who like Ron Paul and would vote if he got the nomination and ran against Hilary.

There are still a few that I've spoken with who have no clue who Ron Paul is.    ;D

It's funny--as Mr. Hot Loofah Lovin' himself was opening his show tonight, he did a memo that ran down the list of both Republican and Democratic candidates and their chances of winning. Guess which one he didn't mention?

Not sure who Hot Loofah Lovin is, but as of today Ron Paul has no chance of winning.  He has been at 1 or 2 percent in the polls since the race started.

Fox News is the American broadcast equivalent of a British tabloid.

In a world full of easily manipulated data, it's hard to trust polls for anything.  Aside from the fact they're often inaccurate because of who they ask, they'll often present questions in ways to get the answer they want.  Like, if you put "Obama is the first major black candidate in history..." or "McCain was a heralded POW..." before you ask the question, then yes, more people WILL say they'll vote for obama or mccain.

MONEY is a much more reliable way to see which candidates have the most support, and who will make the most impact.  Ron Paul is out-earning a lot of names... and that matters more than poll numbers.   Iowa and New hampshire voters are really all that matters - the rest of the country pretty much smells a winner and jumps on the bandwagon.  If Ron Paul can use this 7 or 8 mil that he has now, to let Iowans know who he is over the next 6 weeks... well, nationwide polls won't matter.  If (and it's a long long shot haha) Paul gets 2nd or third in Iowa, it's a whole new ballgame.

Money plays a huge role, but isn't always the deciding factor.  Phil Graham, Ross Perot, and Steve Forbes are good examples of how money cannot propel a candidate that the masses don't like to the head of the pack.

I dont think Paul has a snowball's chance of winning.

But he will take away votes from others.  He'll split the traditionalist republican vote.  Romeny will suffer, I think.  (someone has to lose votes when he gains them- and Romney is the most religious of the bunch).

If he runs as an independent, he'll hurt the republican party dearly.  All those FOX viewers that saw him on all those debates will have to choose Rudy (more war, a guy who supported abortion) or a man they view as a republican - Paul.

Very interesting.  I wonder what RP has up his sleeve for all that $.
