The coach's goal now is trying to help his team forget another tough loss in a season full of them.
Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese called Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich yesterday. The commissioner said the referees made a "terrible" mistake during a disputed punt return for a touchdown by the Huskies.
The Cardinals were leading seven-to-nothing when they punted to Connecticut's Larry Turner. Turner moved under the ball and waved his right hand above his head, appearing to make a fair catch signal.
But when Turner caught the ball, he began running to his left and raced untouched up the sideline 74 yards for a touchdown.
Several Cardinals had slowed down, thinking the play was over when Turner made the catch.
Tranghese took action against the referee who missed the call, but won't elaborate on the penalty.
Kragthorpe won't pin the loss on the officiating. Louisville responded to the disputed touchdown by eventually taking a 17-to-seven lead early in the fourth quarter.
But the Huskies rallied for two touchdowns in the final ten minutes to remain unbeaten atop the conference.
Now the Cardinals are getting ready for their game against Pittsburgh at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on Saturday. Louisville is four-and-four overall and one-and-two in the Big East.
