Actually, the Mormon religion states that God himself was at one time a man and became a god. They also deny that Jesus is God. Although in typical Moromon dublespeak they would confuse the average person into assuming they actually believe in the same Jesus, when in fact, they do not.
Most Mormon's I've met are really good people and very committed to their beliefs. However, they are not Christians
Agreed that they're good people, but I'm not a fan of Monday through Friday churchiness.
The whole 'God used to be a man' thing is probably the most arrogant of their beliefs. They believe that humans can become gods of their own planets, but only if you are first sealed in the temple and complete lots of other 'stuff' on the celestial checklist.
I have no time to care what happens to me after I die. Let whoever's left worry about that.
