Well your right partially, Nasser is guilty by association, and it sounds like he associated with the worst. Most of our mothers warn us to be careful who we hang out with. They are right.

However, Nasser has every right now to distance himself from those people and purge himself of all the shit they put him through and to clear the disturbing and unsettling memories of the twisted games they played out in front of him and in some cases making him an unsuspecting victim.  Remember there is no honor amoungst thieves.

Nasser is smart, He doesn't want the trauma of his past to destroy his future. By telling his story he is restoring his sanity and controling his own redemption.

Im sure Nasser would agree he should have stopped hanging out with those people sooner. It's not easy when your in it, especially if you a loyal person and you believe people at face value and you see the good in people. I have experienced it, you just keep thinking the person or people will change because mostly they say they will and good hustlers are very convincing until you realise they are addicts addicted to drugs or sex- gluttony of all kinds and their happiness always comes before anyone else. At some point you realize no one is changing everyone is getting worse and its time to move on. Thats probably what happened to Nasser, and being from a foreign country and not knowing the culture it must have been more confusing.
