MCT Oil
« on: January 27, 2008, 09:18:55 PM »
I like taking it on my low carb days. The Parrillo Brand.
It gives me a ton of energy and stops my hunger and cravings.
I used to use it a lot more in past years on 0 Carb Days

What do you guys think?

Princess any comments?

i believe coconut oil IS mct oil, guys.

you should look into purchasing thinfast from vpx..its loaded with mct's, omega 3's, 6's and 9's, plus some sesamin and a good deal of tonalin cla.     i think its an absolutely awesome product when combined with a low carb/zero fat diet...you will definitely FEEL the product hit your blood stream, and you will FEEL when you transition from the oil to bodyfat stores for energy...and once then happens it FEELS like the fat is just MELTING off. no joke...i wasnt paid to write this.

the only problem is that for 20.00 bucks a bottle and a bottle only laasting a little over a week if your using it on a daily basis, that that can get a bit pricy. worth it, IMO.

Trainer to the stars back in the 90s, John Parillo (a very smart guy) got everyone on his brand of MCT Oil called "Cap Tri". Cap Tri is just MCT Oil which is just Coconut Oil!  They are all one in the same.  MCT Oils are a medium chain triglyceride whcih is a saturated fat (yes, saturated even though it comes from a plant source!).  Coconuts and Avocado are two plants that actually contain saturated fat whereas nearly all others plants contain unsaturated fats.  Anyways, back to MCTs!  Due to their shorter fatty acid chain length (hence the term "medium" chain triglyceride as opposed to "long" chain fatty acid) they have slightly less calorie content than traditional fats.  I know you always thought that all fats contain 9 calories per gram but that is not true.  The shorter or longer the fatty acid chain length, the lower or higher the calorie content of the fat. Now any macronutrient will give you energy and satiety (felling of fullness) so MCTs can help you boost energy levels but there are better fat sources for this that also have more functional effects in the body as MCTs are very inert from a health-boosting perspective.  Yes, MCTs do help spare the use of carbs from being used as energy but so does alcohol so who really cares if they do this!?  More functional fats like those found in VPX's ThinFat product, Eudos Choice, purified fish oils and Flax Seed Oil offer more satiety, energy increase but also health benefits when taken in high enough quantities.  Princess knows much more about oils than I do but Cap Tri and MCTs were big in the 90s but like Glutamine, Vanadyl Sulphate, Desicated Liver Tabs and Herpes, none of them seem to go away no mater how much we try!

Coconut Oil contains a high percentage of MCT oil.
