I think (within reason) we all do a certain ammount of covering for others while at work. I know I do & I know others have covered for me at times.

Based on your post I'm guessing you're a waiter/waitress?

You're right it's to be expected that covering can happen , I just don't thnk it's "considerate" or "responsible" to not have a "reason".

Being tired isn't a reason.

No , not a waitress  :-\

Wow, I guess there are different ways of "covering". I was referring to "covering someone's butt" when they made a  mistake. Fixing it before the poop hit the fan, ...but I guess you're referring to someone not showing up when scheduled, so then you have to cover their shift. That part I always hated. When I worked in corp, we had a situation where the girl who was in charge of Montreal couldn't handle it, so my boss had to fly out there and help her for a few weeks. I didn't resent it, because Diana was so capable & competent, ...we were all surprised she managed to do as much as she did by herself for so long. Unfortunately when my boss flew out there, I got stuck doing his job because I was the only one in the office who could. That kinda bit, but not as much as it could have because I knew it was necessary.
