As seen on TV
« on: February 04, 2008, 08:08:10 AM »
Have you ever purchased a fitness product from an infomercial?  Would you?  A couple months ago, I saw The Bean http://www.bean.com/ on TV for the first time and yesterday I saw Leg Magic. http://www.buylegmagic.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=buylegmagic/itemdetl.html?item=LegMagicPro_Leg_Magic_Pro&src=ADW80128

As I’m watching this infomercial, I’m thinking to myself that this product is even lamer than The Bean.  Could anyone be dumb enough to fall for its claims?  They even had former ice skater Katarina Witt endorsing it.  She must be really down on her luck.  For sale to gullible women, right?  No!  They even had two men participating in the commercial. First, ThighMaster and now this? How low will people go? :-[

I guess if you buy a product like this you deserve what you get.

I once bought an abroller in 1998, ...it took me a month to take it out of the box,
...and another 6 months to take it out of the plastic. I still haven't used it once.  :-[

As for the product shown in your graphic, my friend Dina was demonstrating something like that one morning on Breakfast Television, and she said she could really feel it in her inner thighs.

{LOL} Tell me about it. I was feeling guilty. Everyone I knew worked out like crazy and didn't have the muscle tone I had. I figured you can only push your luck and good genes so far, that I'd better start working out before everything turned to flab overnight.  Oh well! Live & Learn!

I have bought some great products off TV that I have actually used and gotten good value for my money.
Can't say that I've ever been ripped off by an "As Seen on TV' purchase I've made.

I had never heard of the Bean until a friend told me that she bought one.  The quality is really bad!  I went through some of the moves with her along with the video.  Lame.  She's relatively happy with her purchase though  :-\

Another friend recently purchased that thigh thing.  Ya, you feel it  ::)  just like any adductor move.  Effective?  Nah.

Yet another friend has those Bowflex select weights, which are okay.  A little too cumbersome, but semi-functional.

My mother has bought a shitload of things from tv.

Billy blanks vids she has never even watched, some weird workout machine, a band which forces you to suck in your gut, ...

I keep telling her it's crap and she never uses it anyway.

I guess some people lack critical thinking...

The Ab Roller is actually a decent piece of equipment.  The push-up handles that twist are OK too.  That's about all I have seen that's worth it.

My mom bought me this travelling ab thing once that is basically a bunch of handles and ropes that you are supposed to tie to your hotel room door or something...it was ridiculous.

I don't like those adjustable dumbells...I find them to be quite cumbersome and wiggly.

Things like The Bean and Thighmaster are such a joke...I love the way they have these superfit models on the commercial to make you think that you will get a body like them just from using the equipment for like 15 minutes three times a week.   ::)
