My read on the Lesnar one point thing...
« on: February 03, 2008, 08:21:30 AM »
It looked to me that the ref (was it matagazzi?) was going in to stop the fight, and then decided to NOT stop it (which i agree woulda been an early stoppage) pulled up and knew he hadda do something to explain his interference, so he took a point for back of the head hitting....

I think the refs original intent on his action was to stop the fight....

I think Mir was lucky in cinching that heel hook cause Lesnar (as gay as his hammerfists are) was beating the crap outta him...

I'd like to see a Lesnar/Crocop or Arlovski or Kongo match....     dude showed he is a beast and with a little time will dominate

I agree this is not the end of Brock and I see him having a bright future. The guy could really do some damage on the ground with those big fists. I just want to know if Mir is gonna say he hits hard.

yeah...i really think Lesnar dominated Mir...and that Mir was given a total gift by that stoppage, cause without it, it was GNP central

Lesnar - Kongo should be good.

Two freaks of nature with potential, but not completely ready for the top. Lesnar by gnp.

If you look at the post fight interviews on the UFC website, you'll see that Mir conceded that Lesnar hit HARD.  I agree...Lesnar has potential and putting him in the cage with guys that want to stand & bang like Cro-cop & Silvia would make for somewhat entertaining bouts.   Kongo has no takedown defense...he would be obliterated in the 1st round.

I don't think he sux,he was WAY quicker than I thought he'd be,it was his second fight and he got thrown into the fire with a black belt........

he's got so much room for improvement it's not even funny (it's scary actually if he continues to take this seriously).....

now that all the WWE hype is gonna start to fall by the wayside and we can all judge him based on his last MMA fight(s), I could see myself taking an interest in seeing him improve

because the ref was going to stop it and but was standing so close that he was almost infering with the match. he had to do something. of course lesnar hit him in the head but mir turned his head around to save it from getting smashed in...it was an accident. the ref should have warned him and left them on the ground.....not doubt in my mind that lesnar would have finished it.

It was a gift that the ref stopped it.  Usually they would have least yelled at the fighter and warn him not to hit in the back of the head.  Plus it wasn't an individual punch.  It was part of a barrage of hits and Mir turned and Lesnar hit him.  If the ref didn't step in Lesnar would have destroyed Mir in that situation.  Even the announcers were trying to figure out why he didn't just get a warning.  Lesnar manhandled Mir the whole time but made a mistake and psi for it.  Good for Mir but Lesnar looked good other than that. Even moved on the ground good

well if it was ok to take a point from lesnar then why didnt Steve Mazagatti take a point away from Tibau,? he hit griffin in the back of the head twice got a warning and then hit him some more and got a second warning and the ref never stopped the fight change thier positions or anything and this happend befor the lesnar/mir fight
