Arnold Classic Main Expo Hall

Saturday from 2-4pm

He's benchpressed 445 pounds at 175 pounds bwt in competition without a bench shirt and he's also benched the biggest shirted bench in history with his 655 pound bench in the 165 pound class. Joe's also a multi-time Arnold Classic bench pro medalist.

Rob Luyando's won the Mendelson Classic mwt division at the FitExpo and he's also won the middleweight title at the Arnold Classic WPO benchpress world championship. He has the biggest shirted bench in the world at 242lbs with a 905 contest bench and the biggest 275 pound class shirted bench in history with his 909 pound contest bench.

So, if you're going to the Arnold Classic, don't miss the Super Bench Seminar with Kennelly, Mazza and Luyando which takes place on saturday from 2pm-4pm, in the main expo hall at the MHP booth island!

Yes, I really do think that old school rules is the key to building the sport to a legit pro level (meaning, bringing more $ into the sport) but I also recognize that many of the geared lifters are super strong and still deserve recognition for their skills. You yourself use gear in competition but you're still deadlifting in the mid 600s and that's not easy to do despite how many people on the forums claim they can do so (a competition quality mid 600s pull takes years to build and many don't ever get there.) So, obviously you're really strong too!

Thank you for your positive remarks. Mucho appreciated.

Jason Pegg,

Someone's posting over on Tommy Fannon's forum using your name I think?

I can't recall the URL for that forum, sorry. Someone just emailed me saying that they copied my Arnold Classic bench post on his forum and that someone named Jason Pegg attacked me on there thinking that it was me posting (I stopped posting there a long time ago at Fannon's request.)

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

raw lifting is by far superior to bench shirts.

Why? I might have agreed with you a year ago but seriously why? Have you ever tried benching in a shirt? Its not exactly easy.

The greater strength test is lifting without the bench shirts or powerlifting suits.

The greater technique test is lifting with the shirts and suits.

I think that more people are interested in a maximum strength contest than they are in a fabric utilizing technique contest built around feats of strength.

Lifting in gear is very difficult until you get to work with someone who can show you all the tricks and methods. Just by tweaking out a shirt I can instantly add a lot of pounds to someone's lift. If a person gets on a powerlifting team, their numbers quickly jump up. But then they tend to use the shirts/suits too much and when ya see them a couple of years later, they're not as big and strong as they would have been had they stuck with the old school powerlifting (even though their numbers have skyrocketed.)

The MHP benchpress booth island is absolutely slammed right now in Columbus too! It's a mob out there! Dang I wish I hadn't gotten sick cause I was all set to go again and MC that event, sigh.

No offence,

but it was probably a good thing that you got sick then.

Your ass is fcuking annoying as MC. The benchpress competition last year was a mess because of two things:

Your MC'ing and the music.

You get a big thumbs up for promoting raw lifting.

Now, if you would just stop the Kidder/Pride Jap announcer act...
