Albuteral as a muscle builder...
« on: February 24, 2008, 09:41:09 AM »
Has anyone read the new study on Albuteral as a muscle builder? My fiancee has a prescription for the inhalers and I was thinking of trying it out. I have no idea how much to inhale daily as I don't think the study gave those details.

I have read similar studies, but the ones I have read do not talk about using inhalers! The studies are referring to the use of albuterol in liquid, or pill form. You can not get an adequate dose from an inhaler!

Maybe you could but you'd probably hyperventilate before that happens though.  :-\

On a serious note the doseages in inhalers are ment for a quick fix to problems.

I was on an albuterol inhaler for years..... those low doses literally made me vibrate.  I can't image taking multimg doses by mouth---even though its a sustained release tablet.

I know what you mean. A breathing treatment makes me jittery for hours.

I don't know a new study but I remember this:

Quote
J Strength Cond Res. 2005 Feb;19(1):102-7.

Oral Albuterol dosing during the latter stages of a resistance exercise program.

Caruso JF, Hamill JL, De Garmo N.

Healthcare Research Associates Inc., Orlando, Florida 32819.

Caruso, J.F., J.L. Hamill, and N. De Garmo. Oral Albuterol dosing during the latter stages of a resistance exercise program. J. Strength Cond. Res. 19(1):102-107. 2005.-Subjects performed isoload variable resistance exercise (REX) 3 days per week. After 10 weeks, they received a double-blind Albuterol (n = 11) or placebo (n = 11) capsule assignment with no crossover and continued training. During the first week of capsule administration, dosages were increased from 4 mg to 16 mg daily and then maintained for 14 days. At weeks 0, 10, and 13, we measured upper arm and thigh cross-sectional area, knee and elbow extensor and flexor (KE, KF, EE, EF) strength at 3 angular velocities, and lean body mass. Data after 10 weeks showed insignificant between-group differences. From weeks 10-13, as subjects continued REX training, Albuterol evoked higher (p < 0.05) KE-KF strength gains at multiple velocities versus placebo dosing. A higher lean body mass trend also occurred with Albuterol from weeks 10-13. Results suggest that Albuterol augments REX to provide greater strength gains from hypertrophic factors than an REX-placebo assignm

Now this is interesting since I don't remember seeing lean mass gains seen in any study with Clenbuterol or other beta agonists (in humans). This would seem like the best beta agonist to use between steroid cycles to maintain LBM. Or on a diet instead of Clen if maintenance of LBM is the main goal.

studies have shown clenbuterol to also be anticatabolic.

You all should try using Xopenex if you are going to use a short acting B2 agonist.  They separate the r and S isomers of albuterol to give you a much cleaner and longer acting drug.  Xopenex is just dosed TID with much less tachycardia.  In response to an early post about taking more that what is prescribed would not be a smart thing to do.  You will eventually end up in the ER.

it is oral not inhaled, oral will do little.

clen has anabolic effects also.

If anything, albuterol in oral form would be anti-catabolic in the same way clenbuterol is.

Both bronchodilators......... ..

They aren't anabolic by nature, but the fact that they are anti-catabolic means they sway in the direct of anabolism by default.
