« on: March 28, 2008, 07:52:54 PM »
I get the dentist whitening shit about once a year and started it again today, damn this shit fkn hurts. It must be the bleach. Anyway, what you guys know about Zoom? Does it work as well as the bleach shit the Dentist gives you?

Only dentist approved stuff works. I get all the stats for heart disease and dental disease...whitening things don't work.

So, what danielson, you haven't been flagrantly assholish, what's wrong? Hope you aren't doing something stupid.

I agree about only dentist shit working, I have tried the strips, fuck em. Not sure why you are trying to start a fight with me, I am not in the mood.

No, for some ridiculous reason I care about your ass. You said something about being curious about whatever drug. I am not fighting with you at all. Idiot.  :)

I have heard that too, through trial and error I have found out the dentist stuff is better.

did zoom and the the bleach stuff:

ZOOM definitely works. depending on how discolored your teeth are, it will improve them dramatically. its annoying to sit there for 50 minutes motionless but its worth it. WAY better than the bleach shit IMO.

Bleach works well, but it stings pretty bad. I have no idea about Zoom.

Well, I like you too Deedee :) What drug was I curious about? there have been so many ;D

I only ever have a few mins to come here anymore, so tend to read at breakneck speed and try to congeal all thoughts into one or two posts.  ;D It was something you said on that drug thread of STella's, so I'll post it there when I get a chance.

As far as the teeth whitening, I did a huge research thing on that a few months ago, and mostly none of them work very well, and can be abrasive to the gums. The dentist does the best job apparently.  Also, there was info that sodas really are bad as far as discoloring goes, citrusy (sp) drinks too, so it's best to drink through a straw.

The premium crest strips are 39.99$. You need to get them about twice a year, more if you are just starting. The mouthpiece I had made was 200$ and the gel 60$, although I know someone who works there so I may be getting a discount. You only need to use the tray once a year. So after the 200$ for the tray, whick I admit is a big fkn ripoff, the prices are comparable. I think I can get zoom in my town for 350$, but in the next town over its 250$ I think.

Target 7day whitening strip $15.00 - work great.
Choice 2 by some cheap foam whitening tray throw the gel away, call your dentist and tell him your out of Zoom gel.

I did "Brite Smile" or something like that a few years ago.  They put some kind of gel on your gums to protect them and another kind on your teeth to shine a light on for an hour or so.  It was the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life.  I had 2 instances during the treatment where the pain was so intense I had to yell for the nurse.  Apparently the protective gum gel wasn't covering every place it should have been.

After the treatment I had "attacks" of pain that were so intense I would hold my head in my hands.  They gave me ibuprofen ::) before I went home and then I went home and drank gin.

The next day the attacks of pain continued but with more and more time in between.

My husband did it and it didn't bother him at all.

danielson, it sounds like you have sensitive teeth like I do.  If Zoom is anything like Brite Smile don't do it.  Just stick w/the whitening gel from your dentist.  They can give you a syringe of some other stuff that you can use in the morning after you've whitened the night before that should help w/the sensitivity.

www.best-teeth-whitening.com/

1  My Number One Pick:
Celebrity Sexy Teeth is the winner, too bad I didn't find it first. I first heard about this product when E! News recommended it in their Spring Style picks last year, and so far I must agree with E! that this is the best Teeth Whitener on the market. The difference with this Teeth Whitener is that you get both short-term and long-term whitening as it works with both the inner and outer enamel. Aside from the scientific reasoning, the results are absolutely fabulous,, and unlike other products, there was NO sensitivity! In addition to delivering a whitening effect that the others just can't compare to, it also happens to be quickest, cleanest, and least expensive method I've tried. I absolutely love it, it only takes a few seconds to get your teeth perly white, and there's no mess or pain. Using this product, I was able to move up 7 shades, and once my boyfriend saw me using it, he started using it and saw an improvement of 9 shades!   Go

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2  Runner Up:
Britesmile was the first teeth whitening method I had ever tried. The old BriteSmile commercials really got me excited about teeth whitening. When I first tried Britesmile in 2003, I was pretty happy with the results as I saw an improvement of 7 shades, however I wasn't so happy with the $600 bill. There was no pain during the first 40 minutes, but the last 20 minute session was borderline intolerable as my teeth became super sensitive. I reluntantly tried Britesmile again in early 2006 when the price had dropped to $400, and saw an improvement of 6 shades this time. Britesmile definitely works, however, aside from the hefty price, you're also instructed not to eat any "colored" foods for the next 3-4 days (that means you can only eat cottage cheese and cauliflower for 96 hours! Uhh! )   Go

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3  GoSmile is another popular teeth whitening product. GoSmile is fairly effective, and like Celebrity Sexy Teeth, does not cause tooth sensitivity. However it only gets 3 stars as I only saw on improvement of 4 shades with GoSmile versus 7 shades from Celebrity Sexy Teeth. I do however love the way GoSmile is packaged, I just wish their product was a bit more effective.   Go

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4  ZOOM Teeth Whitening gets 2 stars because it does work fairly well (I saw an improvement of 5 shades), but it's way too expensive at $1000-$1200, and it causes extreme tooth sensitivity. Two of my friends that tried ZOOM also complained about terrible tooth sensitivity for days after the treatment.   Go

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5  Crest Whitestrips Premium Plus are Crest's fifth attempt at making a decent teeth whitening product. After using this product for 3 weeks, I did see an improvement of 2 shades. This falls under the "teeth whiteners that kinda work" category so it is only recommended as a back up when you run out of Celebrity Sexy Teeth or GoSmile. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because it's the only product you'll find in the drug store that will give you any results, just not much at 2 shades.   Go

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6  Crest Whitestrips Supreme are one of Crest's earlier teeth whitening products that was heavily promoted on TV commercials. Unfortunately, this product simply does not work. ZERO shades of improvements after using this product for 2 weeks. Worse yet, it causes slight tooth sensitivity! No wonder Crest had to come out with several new versions after releasing this ineffective product! Complete waste of money!   Go

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7  Same as above, Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips are a little less expensive than Crest Whitestrips Supreme, but again simply do not work! Still a waste of money. Not recommended, read above.
