Another Car Thread
« on: April 18, 2008, 10:40:46 PM »
Okay I am shopping for car.  For a regular car I want Chrysler 300.  In SUV category probably a Range Rover or Escalade.  I wouldn't mind a nice pickup.  RIght now my 1st choice is the 300.  What do you guys think.  I also want to by a 1986 Jeep C7 as a project car.  I like this car.  It is something someone sent me to invest in.  But as much as I like it, I just would rather spend money on something newer.

are you insane :D  I would buy the stang.  That's sweet.  What I really want, have wanted for a while is a 68 camaro SS 396  Black, red interior.  I know everyone likes the 69, but I like the rounded fender wells way better than the lined out one on the 69.  If you're going to do midlife crisis, do it... fuck the new car unless it's a freaking good one :)

Just like this one,... but not a clone.  Looks a little light in the front but pretty close.

I've shopped for several years, this car is hard to find...

I can take it to my gay tuper wear parties and invite Geo :)

I know it is really a beautiful car.  But i want a newer car now.  I had this 67 Firebird in Hawaii and it has been one of my favorite cars ever.  This car drew so much attention everyone loved it.  I wish I still had it.

Well I have to think of my size.  If I was going to get a luxury car I woudl probably get a Mercedes S600.  I have a couple friends who have one and I have driven them before and fit in them.  Plus I like the four doors cause I need to be able to pick people up at the airport when they are visiting.  I like the BMW's but I like Mercedes better.  The 300 is really good looking I think and it is huge inside.  Plus I need real comfort cause I will be driving back and forth from Vegas to LA a lot.

I've got that exact car sitting in my garage. Well, I'm restoring mine. However, same year and body style.

How is it?  I know gas is shitty but man you gotta do what you gotta do.  I do like a few of the hybrid cars but not sure how big they are.

Theres the lexus LS600h, thats a big sedan and a hybrid, but pretty pricey.

What model S600 do you like? My grandfather just bought a 2nd hand '06 S600L. Sweet car. Tonnes of room and crazy powerful. Only dissapointing thing is that the engine is so quiet. A car as powerful as it is should sound better than it does.
No doubt about it...

I remember getting around 8-12mpg in my 67. That was with the standard 289 and a four barrel carb. It also had (or has, but it's lying on the garage floor!) an automatic tranny too.
I'm putting in a 351 Windsor, bored and stroked that eventually will be putting out around 450hp, and I'll put in a Richmond 6speed transmission. That's the rough idea, from there, who knows what will happen. :)

Never thought about a Lexus.  I had one in Honolulu when they first came out.  We named our dog Lexus in fact.  If it is a SUV I would consider it.  I will look it up.  Not sure what model they are.  I do know the were S600.  One of the guys is my CFO and his lowered with fancy tires and rims and is black.  It is really awesome looking.

You know I thought you were saying you had a 300 in your garage.  I just realized you meant the Mustang.  I had 2 66 Mustangs in high school.  I was the Mustang mechanic in autoshop.  The both had 289's.  But one of them was a four-speed and had a McCleod(?) racing clutch and nice tires with traction bars and turbo mufflers.  It was nice for 1975.  I wrapped it around a light post in a parking lot as I was watching a Corvette I was going to go race later on go out of the parking lot.  I wasn't paying attention.  I totaled the car.  Pissed me off

I've always been partial to my F-bodies.  In the past I've owned a black '85 Trans Am with a 383 Stroker, a pretty much stock '01 Z28, and a '93 green trans am that was a project car.....until my current baby, an '01 Pewter Trans Am, Heads/Cam, Nitrous, all bolt ons, Moser Rear End, Stage 3 EVIL 4L60E Transmission, and the interior pretty much gutted.  It's a fun car, but the ride quality isn't all that great and am now kinda in the market for something both brutally fast and a somewhat of a comfortable and modern ride.

I'm gonna be forsaking the upcoming Camaro for this baby....breaking my long trend of F-bodies.  Seriously, why not get this ride right here?

I remember seeing the Challenger in a Road & Track magazine around '04. I thought it was killer looking then, and seems it's still the way I feel about it. The new Camaro is supposed to be cool- but I haven't seen recent photos of it.

Onlyme-
Yeah, I was talking about my Mustang. :D
I guess you didn't get to race the Vette huh? ;D
How fast were you going in a parking lot to "wrap it around a light post?" :o

Maybe 30.  I hit the only light post in the lot that had a cement footing around it.  I hit perfect.  My frame came up through the floor board and my clutch and brake and gas pedals were all pushed up into the dash.  My whole front end was around the pole.  I had to crawl out the passenger window.  It was on a Sunday I remember cause the next day was school and the guy in the Vette saw me and said "were you chicken?"  He didn't know I totaled my car.  I ended up parting it out.

I like that new car.  But I need luxury and room.  My play toy will be a Jeep CJ7 that I will make really nice so I can go play out in the desert.

nah, the LS600H is a long wheelbase sedan, a BMW 7 series, mercedes benz S class competitor. Lexus are good, but my dad owned a LS430 but sold it after only 1 year. He said it was was a shit handler and too quiet for a V8 :D

Go for the Mercedes S600. Just awesome 8)
No doubt about it...

go for a Mercedes Benz W124 300E or A W140 S Class - both built like tanks.  ;D

W140 S class - I like this body style, some think it's ugly.

I defintiely will be getting a bike but probably either a Harley or custom by Orange County.  Once the gym is up and running I would like to get one made for the gym.

Well you have the ML and the GL Mercedes SUV's. ML is nice, yet is only a 5 seater, and a full load of passengers would be a tight squeeze. The GL is much bigger and a seven seater, and is one of the few suv's where the back two seats actually can fit adults, where most can only fit kids. The GL is more pricey though...

The S600 is really roomy in the back seat. My grandfather owns one, and the back seats have full electrical adjustments (recline and shit) and have full heating and cooling seats, along with massaging seats. You could throw a party in the back ;D I dont know what model you would be looking at, but here in Aus you would still have to pay around 200k or so for a low mileage '06 model S600.
No doubt about it...

Supposedly, there is rumor of a 525 HP Camaro doing times at the 'Ring...courtesy of GM...
