Pre-Show Sodium Intake
« on: April 24, 2008, 10:16:03 AM »
When should sodium be cut out? I have a show on Saturday 5/10, I was going to cut sodium to zero starting Thursday morning 5/8.

Do not do that!!

Start the week with a moderate amount of sodium, up to two grams (which is about a 1/2 teaspoon) and around Thursday start dropping it slightly but don't eliminate it completely. If you do, you'll force water out of the muscle cell, you'll look flat and smooth, and you'll cramp up like there's no tomorrow. You need about four times more sodium than potassium for your muscles to contract normally.

This is if you're natural.  If you're not, this probably doesn't apply.

Agreed, you will be flat as a pancake by Sat.  :'(   How many times have you heard, "looked great the next day". That is after they eat foods full of sodium and drink more fluids. They are like a dry sponge adding water and swell their muscles up. Trust me, been there done that. Good Luck!

And Princess, yes it still does apply  ;)
