4 years ago i was taking epedrine pills to aid in my cardio workouts. ( trying to lose weight more then gain muscle. ) Then out came all the big write ups and issues concerning its "uses". I was wondering, since im totally out of the loop now ( been a couch potato for over 2 years ).. is there any product that came to replace epedrine pills? I tried reading the giant post regarding epedrine but some of the posts there are as old as 2005-6, and i need current information.

Basically, i eat a protien bar 1 hour prior to cardio to give me a little energy, but im wondering if there is anything on the market that wont indanger my health that may help in shedding off weight. Epedrine worked really well for me.. but its just not worth the risks anymore.

Any info on any current products or links to sites showing effective cardio supplements would be awesome.

Thanks for any info you guys/gals can provide :)

that product right there is kickass!  A few of us here take it and like it! I know they'll chime in as well on this topic and on this product. Nitor really ramps your system up without the side effects of ephedra and ephedrine and most of the time you dont' even have to take a full dose. It keeps you going on the days you're dieting and feel like you're dragging ass..or even if you just want an extra energy boost in the gym, this stuff really brings it.  It doesn't make me all jittery and uppity like ephedra did.

Healthy?  Depends on your definition.  A lot of these products think that they can put in 300 mgs of caffeine and get you all jacked but eventually you'll crash.  Depending on how fat you are the key to having energy is waking up the same time every day, never sleep in on weekends. Sleeping in messes with your sleep cycle.  Also don't eat fatty foods.  Go out in the sun and jog or walk for cardio, there is no stimulus indoors.  Take a nice power walk outside in the sun and you'll realize that you won't need some bullshit energy supp.  Once you start losing weight you'll feel more energetic.

Also eat a nice breakfast.  healthy choices in the morning will get you going.

the protein bar is a bad idea.. almost all of tehem are loaded with sugar.  sugar isnt necessarily a bad thing, neither are carbs, BUT, you dont want to have much of them when trying to lose body fat, and you DEFINITELY dont want your insulin levels up when doing cardio.    if your gonna eat before you do cardio..   do soemthing like wild salmon with some steamed grean beans about an hour and a half before.

as for haelthy weight loss supplements before cardio.. try taking a handful of fish oil and some extra strength EGCG

Thats what ive been trying to do. I changed my diet to watch out for bad carbs, i try and aim at the 4 major food groups everyday but in moderation. I drink water as often as i can even in my protein shakes. I get up everday at 8am ( even on weekends ) and try to get to bed by at maximum 1am to ensure i get minimum 7 hours of sleep.

My diet seems to be fairly clean lately as all i intake are clean veggies, meats, fruits, and whole grains.

Thanks for the advice :)

The protein bar im using is a low carb, 10-15g protein bar recommended by the guy working the at the supplement store. When you mention fish oil or EGCG, what do you mean exactly? Getting oil from eating fresh seafood etc or do i need to find it in its oil / pill base? And sorry if this is a dumb question, but what do you mean by EGCG?

I try to intake fish at least once every 2 days either via fresh seafood or threw canned tuna. Would that be suffcient or do i need to pump up my "fish oil" intake? And.. why would fish oil help?

Thanks for your comments :)

well if you reating alot of WILD fatty fish, every day, then i dont know if fish oil would do to much for you.   but if your not going to eat any wild fatty fich, thnen take the fish oil.   it boosts fat metabloism, increases insulin sensitivty,, boosts bmr, and increases protien synthesis.

egcg is the active ingredient in green tea extract, it upp regulates liver activity and shifts you to fat burning.
