1. My first power MEET was a push/pull, I benched next to nothing in a denim shirt I knew nothing about and got my first State record. It was a deadlift for the submaster group that was vacant. Hahaha.
2. Saw Chip Davis snort some ammonia out of a bottle and he inhaled a small ammonia pellet.(haha) He did his deadlift attempt with snot and tears pouring down his face for a new PR! His son Anthony ran up to congratulate him and all chip wanted to do was blow his nose all in his son's shirt. (SNOTY SHIRT)
3. I was at a MEET in TN, saw Jay Gibson smash his forhead into the squat bar a number of times trying to get ready for his squat attempt. Jay busted himself open pretty good, with blood running down his face and all over the floor he got that 940lbs squat. This was the same MEET that jay held 800lbs about 1" over his chest for about 30seconds trying to get it to touch - he yelled "nope" and pushed it up like an empty bar and said, "not today".
That MEET was also where I squatted a new WR in the APA, I had my son record it for me....as I'm home the next day watching the tape and making notes about my first two squats the tape shows me walking up to the platform for the WR attempt. I get under the bar and unrack it...click, click suddenly the person on the tv is someone else deadlifting. My son said he ran out of tape so he rewound it to record more of the deadlifts..............
