She's defending Obama, surprisingly.

You have a business.

Your competitor has a business.

You and your competitor decide to open a joint venture, yet still keep your original businesses operating separately.

Your joint venture is reasonably successful.

Even though you are partners in the joint venture, the other person still badmouths your solo business.
