this is embarrassing for everybody
I might be wrong on this, but I'd say he can still compete in the Olympia and be top six. If not, top 10 for sure, and I highly doubt anyone would be opposing that (I know there was opposition to him beating Dennis Wolf in 2007).
The ironic part is how his original injury which led to his other weaknesses all stemmed from the bursitis he developed due to his victory collapse at the 2005 Olympia. Other than that I would say he had a very gradual decline. He is 44 after all.
I don't like seeing champions go down in a negative light, kind of like how Nasser dropped and eventually sort of tarnished his legacy by being relegated to lowly placings at later shows. What is even more amazing is that Nasser was likely 95% of his size in his poorer placings, but was just lacking the finesse and freshness of the physique that made him one of the best in the world. It's amazing how in competition the little details become such big details.
Other pros like King Kamali dwindled in placings before they ever materialized to begin with. Body chemistry is so unique for each individual and it is so difficult to point out the specific factors that result in these types of things in bodybuilding.
