He can't play football anymore because he'll be too busy raising Eddie Murphy's five kids.   :)  (He's supposedly dating Murphy's ex.)

Seriously, good player.  Had a very nice career.

How so?

he's a HOF'er but i dont know if i would consider him a 1st ballot'er. when i think of him i dont envision anything specific such as a moment or move. unlike a bruce smith. i dont have anything specific to support my argument, but from the name test i would hesitate. name test being if you mention a guys name you automatically know if he is HOF matterial or not i.e Ladanian Tomlinson, Peyton Manning. the sack he got from Brett Favre for the season record was LAME. they shouldnt count that BS.

Lynn Swan..comes to mind. is Art Monk in there?
a lot of players are in the hall whom some people feel may not entirely belong there.

but you said he belongs there, that means you think he is a great player

he is only overrated if people say he is better than guys like reggie white or bruce smith

I didnt say i thought he belongs there, i said he will be in there. i have no doubt the voters will vote him in. i hesitate to say he is a first ballot guy.
are you saying that anyone under Reggie or Bruce can not be consisdered overrated?
would you say Art Monk,Lynn Swan or Kellen Winslow are not overrated? it took Lynn years to get in, and even after that people had a difference of opinion on whether he belonged.

if strahan is overrated than who at his postition do you think belongs in the hall of fame but isn't there yet?  he can only be overrated if he is getting more consideration over guys that were just as good as him if not better, i think he was arguably the best at his position this decade

i don't think swann was overrated, he didn't have hall of fame numbers with a run first team which is why it took him so long to be inducted

many receivers will tell you his style revolutionized the position and that is why he is in the hall

I honestly cant think of anyone playing today that would get more recognition than him, however that doesnt necessarily mean he isnt overrated. i dissagree with "he can only be overrated if he is getting more consideration over guys that were just as good as him if not better"
yes i do agree that this decade since the Smith, White era he is tops in his class, however that says more about the position in todays game than anything else i believe.

if many receivers said he revolutionized the game, the impact would have been felt right after his retirement also and not just before his bid. Also he got introducted soon after or near the end of Rice's career, i highly doubt people would say that about Lynn being that Rice set the standard.
would you say Art Monk,Lynn Swan or Kellen Winslow are not overrated?

so you basically admit that he's the best at his position during his era, how can a guy be overrated then and what makes you think the position isn't strong?

i'm just telling you what other receivers said about swann, it took him awhile to get in due to his small numbers on a run first team and voters not wanting to put in too many guys from one team

monk was underrated, i don't see how kellen winslow was overrated

yes during his era he was one of THE best. but for whatever reason i still dont think he was great. in the hof there are two seperate fractions as far as im concerned and he would be second tier.
swan almost didnt make it into the hof, that says alot. again he would be second tier easily.
kellen had a few good years, of course im going by stats and internet research i never saw him play. just the dramatic shot of him being carried off the field.

jason taylor?

Don't forget besides the sacks how good he was against the run.plus he did not play the "glamour" d-end position he played the right side.alot of time he had to go against tight ends and running backs besides tackles.

i agree swan is second tier, nobody ever said he was one of the best of all time so how can he be overrated?

jason taylor is a future hall of famer, arguably better than strahan but playing on a shitty team will prevent him from being first ballot

he would be overrated in that i dont believe he deserves to be in the Hall.
Jason Taylor shouldnt go into the HOF, he was a really good player and had a really good career but the line has been blurred as to what a HOF 'er is. Im a Dolphin fan also.

from the guys i grew up watching i would say White, Bruce Smith, LT, B. Sanders, Montana, Elway, Rice, Marino, J. Kelly, all those types. Peyton, Brady, LT and the players on that level should be HOF'ers.

I'm so tired of hearing about the Brett Favre sack. It's BS because Favre wasn't there for the other 21.5 sacks that Strahan got that season. Even without that last sack that record is amazing because offensive linemen are way better now than when Gastineau played. Give Strahan the respect he deserves. He's not overrated at all. He's one player who got better as he got older. He definitely deserves to be in the hall of fame, and as an Eagle fan, I'm glad he retired.

he needed that sack against Brett to break the record. the fact that Brett just fell down was lame.

No doubt, but what he still accomplished that season was amazing, none the less. Some of the best defensive ends in NFL history haven't come close to accomplishing that (Except Reggie White who had an amazing 21 sacks in 12 games in 1987).

The "Minister of Defense". I love that nickname.

That's 1.75 sacks a game during the 1987 season!!!  :o :o :o
