Adequan
« on: October 09, 2006, 10:03:01 PM »
Read Daves article in MD. I broke my ankle years ago and its gotten to be bone on bone,no cartilage. It hurts after being on it for awhile. The doctor gives me cortizone shots but insists if the pain gets unmanageable he wants to fuse the joint. Any info or experience with this would be greatly appreated!

Adequan is a systemically administered glucosaminoglycan, currently approved for veterinary uses.  I can't give you any human data on it, but I don't think it will give you any significant advantage over orally administered medications of the same class (i.e. chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine), and the long-term side effects would be unknown.

Joint fusion is done for end-stage arthritis.  If the fusion itself is successful, it is a reliable, long-term solution for pain relief but obviously this is at the expense of any ankle joint motion.

Hey freakster, I was hoping you would answer this question.  DP made it sound like Adequan was the next miracle drug.  Thanks.  I think I may be starting to shows signs of some arthritis, in my knees.  Is it that painfull feeling you get while not moving the joint, cause when I walk around it goes away, although climbing and decending stairs can be a little painfull still, but sitting for peroids of inactivity brings on the pain.  Have found it also radiates up my femur to the hip on one side, kind of feels like a bone ache.

Will admitt it starts mostly after heavy leg days but can last for a week or so.  have noticed if I kick back the leg training intensity it subsides and things get better.  My guess is this old body is showing signs of overuse and this is the begining stages of arthritis that could be quite dibilitating if Im not smart now?  Sorry to bring up work to you, but what is the long term prognosis?  How much longer can I abuse this body and when do you think the real problems will start for me if I keep up at this pace, considering where I am now symptom wise?  Thanks in advance.

Adequan gets rave reviews. Pet owners know. They'll give it to a lame dog, cat or horse and it literally reverses the negative condition. I've read a ton of good things about Adequan. All of it personal testimony as it pertains to pets. None of the personal testimony I read ever came from the manufacturer of the drug. The FDA needs to approve this drug for human use. You need a prescription from a vet to obtain Adequan. Pet meds are farther along than human meds. Many more studies, reviews, approvals and paperwork go into approving a drug for a human use then it does for a pet drug. I have read where this is a great drug for those with cartilage problems. In America some ailing veternarians that are dealing with joint pain use it on themselves. In Europe Adequan is legal for human use. I wonder if the vets in Tijuana sell Adequan. I wonder if it's legal for humans to take in Mexico as it is in Europe. I want Adequan.
