GENERALLY SPEAKING WHEN SHOULD YOU START?
« on: July 01, 2008, 05:30:54 PM »
I KNOW THIS IS VERY GENERAL DEPENDING ON SO MANY FACTORS (AGE, HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN WORKING OUT CONSISTENTLY, ETCETERA) BUT USUALLY WHEN SHOULD SOMEONE EVEN BE EXPLORING AND STARTING TO USE AAS? AFTER WHAT 2,3,5 YEARS OF WORKING OUT? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE REPLIES!

Typically when you max out your genetic potential... And/or have tried every diet combination of carbs:protein:.  Or like most people they just don't like waiting that long and typically start anywhere from mid 20's to early 30's.  Hope this helps

I think the maxing out ones genetic potential is a little misleading and generally not a good basis for starting off.  Some guys could work out heavy for years and not hit it until their mid 30's.

I think it's just really up to the individual when they feel they've researched and asked enough questions and feel it's the right time.  You also need to evaluate what your goals are when you use AAS and what you expect to get out of it.  People often forget that if you push yourself beyond your genetic potential with AAS you aren't going to keep the gains very easily so long term cycling is needed if you wish to reach a certain size and maintain it.

Also remember once you start you will not wanna stop.  i would say about 3 years training, eating, naturally supplementing, sleeping, resting, hardcore like a BB.  You must be obsessive in your dedication and drive to reach the point of using gear.  If your dedication and drive will not be there long term just stay natural.

Some solid goals may also be a good idea.  You must also honestly evaluate your potential for doing well in the pursuits you have.

If you want to become a pro (not gonna happen for most lol) start early. Like late teens. That's what most champions did too. I have a theory that steroids are more effective in young subjects and could have more effects on the muscular set-point when used at a young age.

I would never recommend anyone start when they are teens though. Especially for the effects it could have on the brain long term.

Physiologically I don't see any reason to wait until you've maxed out naturally, whatever that means. A couple of years of working out is a good idea though.

Yup, there is never just one cycle. Once you start you won't stop, unless you stop bodybuilding.
