Author Topic: Do you reckon Randy vs Fedor will ever happen? (Read 2420 times)

I used to want to see them fight... but that was back then, back when Randy had wins over both Sylvia and Gonzaga and assuming the fight would take place in the cage... Now it's been a year since Randy had a fight... and with Fedor being injured they'll fight next year at its earliest... Randy will be 46 by then.
Fedor might not look it, but he's still young... only 32. That's a different of 14 years.
Surely time must be running out for Randy. You can't fight someone like Fedor at age 46... + the risk of injury in training must be higher too.

I really don't care, but I'm pretty certain if it ever does with all the hype of randy "retiring" and what not, it'll be the single most disappointing main event in the history of MMA

It wouldn't be pretty, thats for sure. I take nothing away from Randy, nothing at all. He was one of the absolute best that ever stepped foot in the cage. But Fedor is still in his prime and slaughtering folks.

I see it as the one opponent no one can beat if father time. Eventually is catches up with everyone. The longer he sits out the harder it will be for him get the "ring/cage" rust off. Also I think Randy's style suits the cage I think the ring is a different animals for grappling based styles. Either way when/if it happens I will still buy the PPV...

Randy really fucked himself up by doing what he did. Not only is he being sued, he's unable to fight and if he one day gets to fight Fedor, he will be 46+ years old. Assuming Affliction is still around then, I'm not convinced they're willing to offer Randy tons and tons of money; after all money was the reason he left UFC. He might've been financially much better off by staying in UFC. If he just wanted a challenge, he could've just waited for the UFC contract to expire and he'd be eligible to fight today. He seems like a humble guy, but this time his ego really damaged him.

I thought I seen on Biography, that is now franchising his Couture Training Centers. I am sure he does pretty well financially as it is.

I'm sure he is.. however, I'm sure UFC is not suing him for $10k or other stupid petty cash. Couture gave them a middle finger and I'm sure UFC is going for the maximum possible settlement, unless Randy does some major ass kissing.

It's been a year since Randy fought, so what. He just came out on inside MMA promoting his new book with Loretta Hunt and this issue came up. He basically said he's been staying active and that his body feels just as good as it did for his last few fights, and to the naysayers he said, "it's not like my skills are gonna drop off the face of the earth because I haven't fought in 11 months". He also said he has some of the best fighters at his gym and is always helping them out as well. If it were like 4 or 5 years before Randy fought then I would be worried. He's lived a healthy, clean life and has been fortunate enough to be free of serious injuries for his whole career. Fedor is the one that has been plagued by hand problems (not that it matters, he beat a primed Cro-cop with one hand).

If you knew anything about fighting that opinion might hold some water but you don't. By all accounts he's still throwing world class fighters half his age around his gym and out lasting them, pretty much the way he's always done. Can he beat Fedor? No.

I don't think the fight will ever happen.

1. Court rulings against him.
2. UFC still owns his rights. Won't let him out.
3. Two fights minimum to fulfill contract, and will have to work cheap...again...
4. Dana doesn't strike me (no pun intended) as someone who forgives and forgets easily.

Randy objected to UFC's low compensation for his services by not honoring contract. The price: large monetary settlement from Randy to UFC, and no Fedor fight.

This fight is a pipe dream, Fedor is just too good.
Randy is real, he has real loses to real fighters... part of Fedor's greatness is no one's been able to break him or even get emotion out of him.
