Man, Sam Harris has got some big ears on him.
He says that if you walk into Barns & Noble blind folded and pick a book, any book, that book will be much more useful than the Bible. Then he said that he is not exaggerating. Yeah, right. Of course I believe the Bible to have been the most useful book I have personally ever read, and I can think of many useless books sold at Barns & Noble. But without even going there, does Sam Harris even know that Barns & Noble sells Bibles too? Watch Dumbo here walk into a Barns & Noble blind folded to prove his point and accidentally pick up a Bible.
He says that Mythology is useless accept for entertainment or except that it may make you think about yourself and your personality. What about Mythology's historical value? Has he never read of the Trojan Wars and the discovery of Troy's ruins?
He says that somebody who believes that life starts at conception will oppose "stem cell research" with disregard for those who are suffering from deceases that could one day be cured using stem cells. What a liar. He knows very well that those of us who believe that life starts at conception support "Adult" stem cell research, which has already proved very useful in curing many deceases. What we oppose is "embryonic" stem cell research, which has so far proved to be useless and dangerous, and it requires the mass destruction of unborn babes.
I agree with wavelength, that Sam Harris has some interesting points, except for when he keeps coming back to trashing religion. It makes it obvious that he has some beef with religion or with God that probably goes back to his childhood.
