Do you agree with Sean Hannity?
« on: September 05, 2008, 11:21:48 AM »
Sean Hannity said this week that he believes Sarah Palin is more ready to deal with a Foreign relation crisis than Joe Biden.

He believes that her 18 months of governorship (and visits to TWO foreign countries) provides one with more experience, knowledge, and preparation to deal with foreign threats, than serving 35 years in Congreess and leading the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee.

Coach agrees as well.

What do you think?

Biden has more experience than Palin, but McCain has more experience than Obama.  Both tickets are balanced in that respect.......

I don't agree with Hannity's statement, but he's not dumb and its like Chris Rock said; "women need food, water, and compliments".  I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Sean places a playful call to Gov. Palin with a friendly invitation to the Waffle House.........

The Crotch is, much like Hannity, a bobble-headed Bush-bot. Biden has had years of foreign relations experience, Sara Palin doesn't.

People seem to be missing a point here. John McCain is obviously getting on in years, so if he should be elected President and then pass away in office--which I do not want to happen, to be sure--he'd be passing on the most powerful political position in the world to her. I admire both McCain and Palin, but that's a scary thought.

I think her stance on foreign relations and her decision making will be sound but I agree she has nil experience in the subject.  Of course, lacking experience didn't stop Obama from getting the Dem nomination so, meh..  :|

palin will be a fantastic puppet.  her 'advisers' will pull the strings.  it's to be expected, as how could she POSSIBLY be prepared for the job?  18 months of holding together state with pop of 600k.

When that 3 AM call comes, Palin is - seriously - the least ready of those 4 people in the race.  I think most of us who are honest will agree to that.  Obama is a newbie, but 11 years in senates ain't bad.  18 MONTHS in governor role, well, that's not high pressure.  If obama can survive primaries with Hil, the rest should be east.

In other words, he HAS been tested a bit. we've seen him under major pressure.  Palin?  We have not yet heard ONE word form her mouth that wasn't written for her.  Not one.

You're so up Obama's ass it makes me sick.  Palin won't be a puppet, as you say.

Governorship has been the single most common qualification for presidency for decades.  Not to mention that Palin has accomplished more in her time as mayor and governor (roles with actual RESPONSIBILITY) than Obama's entire do-nothing term as a senator.

I don't suppose you can list some of her achievements?

This is a reasonable topic to explore with Palin.  She has executive experience but has been a govenor for exactly 20 months.  Thats not a long time.  I think her learning curve will need to be steep on the foreign policy issues.  She brings a lot of strength in character, executive experience, outside washington style thinking, economics and balancing budgets but her negative is certainly the lack of foreign policy experience.
With McCain's genetics, its unlikely he'll die of old age in the next 4 yrs but anything is possible.

FYI, Palin is in favor of abortion if the mother's health faces any significant risk.  There have been misposts on that issue.  Also, she was never part of the alaskan group wanting separatism....I'm not going to debunk a lot of the bullshit that has been posted here lately.  Fact is there have been a lot of speculation, spin and untruths or partial truths posted/published about her the last week.  Get the facts first, then raise questions.

What are the tasks that Palin has accomplished in the last 20 months?

Don't just say 'executive expereince'.

Tell us what she's done (when she wasn't cheating on her hubby).

She was mayor for six years and a member of the city council for about four years.  That's all good experience.

Foreign policy experience is something many people learn on the job.

Obama has zero foreign policy experience.

Pathetic.. Now you resort to hearsay just to smear a VP pick who makes your PRESIDENTIAL pick look bad.

I guess it's a new low every day for you, 240.

Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council...Palin followed through on her campaign promises to reduce her own salary, and to reduce property taxes by 60%"

"Governor Palin's tenure include a successful push for an ethics bill, and also shelving pork-barrel projects supported by fellow Republicans."

"After federal funding for the Gravina Island Bridge project...was lost, Palin decided against filling the over $200 million gap with state money."

"Alaska needs to be self-sufficient, she says, instead of relying heavily on 'federal dollars,' as the state does today."

"Palin has strongly promoted oil resource development in Alaska, but also helped pass a tax increase on oil company profits."

"Palin has announced plans to create a new sub-cabinet group of advisors, to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within Alaska."

"Palin presented the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) as the new legal vehicle for building a natural gas pipeline from the state's North Slope."

"Palin announced that a Canadian company, TransCanada Corp., was the sole AGIA-compliant applicant."

"Palin signed a bill into law giving the state of Alaska authority to award TransCanada Pipelines a license to build and operate the $26-billion-dollar pipeline to ship natural gas from the North Slope to the Lower 48, through Canada."

"Palin proposed giving Alaskans $100-a-month energy debit cards."

"She also proposed providing grants to electrical utilities so that they would reduce customers' rates."

"She subsequently dropped the debit card proposal, and in its place she proposed to send Alaskans $1,200 directly and eliminate the gas tax."

"Palin objected to ... list polar bears as an endangered species."

"Palin supported the open debate of creationism alongside evolution in schools; however, she noted that "creationism doesn't have to be part of the curriculum" and that she would not use "religion as a litmus test, or anybody's personal opinion on evolution or creationism" as criteria for selection to the school board."

"She opposes same-sex marriage"

"Palin complied with an Alaskan state Supreme Court order and signed an implementation of same-sex benefits into law under protest, stating that legal options to avoid doing so had run out."

"She supported a non-binding referendum on whether there should be a constitutional amendment on the matter."

"Palin has stated that she supported the 1998 constitutional amendment (to ban gay marriage in Alaska)"

"Palin's first veto was used to block legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to the partners of gay state employees. In effect, her veto granted State of Alaska benefits to same-sex couples. The veto occurred after Palin consulted with Alaska's attorney general on the constitutionality of the legislation."

"Palin followed through on a campaign promise to sell the Westwind II jet purchased (on a state government credit account) by the Murkowski administration. The state placed the jet for sale on eBay three times. In August 2007, the jet was sold for $2.1 million."

"Shortly after becoming governor, Palin cancelled a contract for the construction of an 11-mile (18-kilometer) gravel road outside Juneau to a mine."

"In June 2007, Palin signed into law a $6.6 billion operating budget—the largest in Alaska's history."

"At the same time, she used her veto power to make the second-largest cuts of the construction budget in state history. The $237 million in cuts represented over 300 local projects, and reduced the construction budget to nearly $1.6 billion."

"When on June 6, 2007, the Alaska Creamery Board recommended closing Matanuska Maid Dairy, an unprofitable state-owned business, Palin objected, citing concern for the impact on dairy farmers and the fact that the dairy had just received $600,000 in state money." (The Dairy eventually closed anyway)

What do you think?

I would much rather have Palin making decisions about a war than Biden.
