I dont mean to diss you yankies but why dont you guys build houses out of brick and mortar.
I see all these match stick houses after each Huricane.
Plus a brick house is bullet proof!

PP, these are not houses made of toothpicks and the area they were in is not a typical hurricaine area.  Down here in FL where we can have hurricains the majority of homes are brick and mortar.

Not sure Stella.  I received those photos in an email.  It just made me so sad.  People and animals all displaced.  Lives and homes lost.  Obviously brings back all those images from Hurricane Katrina and all the devastation she wreaked.

I feel for those people.....everything they have worked for is gone with the wind litterally.

But why on earth would you want to move close to or below water levels??

Not all those are galveston some are pics of houston, houston is a freaking mess right now too. They are just now letting contractors in to galveston but they have to be accompanied by the home owner and have picture i.d. Ive been working with a custom home maintance company while looking for a job and have worked 12+ hours everyday this week and there is still so much stuff that needs to be done its ridiculous. We still have over a million ppl without power and some arent expected to get any till october if we ever get a catergory 3 or higher im outta here.

North West Houston (just inside beltway 8 and HWY 290 if you know houstons layout) at a buddy of mines apartment on the third floor...LOL we really didnt expect it to be bad at all. Their apartment didnt get hit all that bad but they are on the maybe october list for power. We have been working in inner city houston and that is a complete mess especially the older neighborhoods with bigger trees.
