There were actually quite a few people talking about this and warning about it in 2006. One of the radio stations I listen to on Saturday had quite a bit of talk about the bubble bursting and the ramifications 2 years ago. But you're right, the ones who were talking were largely ignored and the ones that ignored act like nobody saw this coming.
