It's going to be interesting to see how much actually changes. I mean big ones not the usual back on forth on taxes, health care, etc.

Nice win.  He ran a very good campaign.  McCain did not.  Good luck to them both.

I have strong political views that are not popular with the left or right wing camps.  I belive the US presidential election is not a super bowl where we should root for our team.  Yet a great many vote Republican because and only because their dad did.  Left and Right wing are on the same damn bird.

Case in point:
In Clinton's last year in office he introduced a bill to congress that would have had sweeping changes to law enforcement on federal levels.  The republicans were up in arms.  This was on outrage.  The bill failed.  Every bit of it made it into the patriot act.  If people read more and watched their favorite spin zone a little less they would easily see that what a republican can not get into law, a democrat can.  It happens every year and no one ever says a thing.  Why?  Because no one reads the bills.  They watch the pretty news woman who tells them what her editor decided they needed to know.  The editor BTW makes his choices based on ratings and cooperate sponsors (commercials).

Those who say Republicans are evil or Democrats can't be trusted have voluntarily blinded themselves to almost half of the total info on an matter.  I say almost half because once you grasp this concept, then you have to realize there are more views than left and right on any issue.  To assume from jump street there will only be 2 solutions to any problem, well most children see the flaw in that logic.

Just my 2 cents.  I am happy for Obama and his family, but I do not expect change.  Not any good change anyway.  I expect a full economic collapse late this year.  I expect the middle class will be taking a step back for a while.  I expect the wars to continue.  I would expect it all with McCain too.  You just do not get to that level without making deals with the powers that be.

Wow... a profound gimmick. Who'd have thunk it?! I'm gonna remember that phrase, and use it often.  :)

Just to let you know, "team mentality" in American Politics has been a big criticism here by myself and others on the left.  Statements on it have been made even tonight so I respectfully disagree... bigtime...  I'm not about to blindly follow like I do with my Broncos ;D

I am referring to Americans in general.  I mean seriously, the whole get out the vote thing is something I am against.  Why encourage people who DO NOT follow politics to vote.

Marx proclaimed that socialism will naturally evolve from capitalism, not be brought about by a change of the head of state, a revolution, or something like that. That is where he was most widely misunderstood and his conceptions misapplied.

As for the election, as a citizen of another country on another continent I am happy about the choice you guys made. There are many problems in global economics and politics at the moment and how Obama will deal with them remains to be seen, but at least this is a very positive beginning and a different one too.

By July, we'll see T-shirts, hats and bumper stickers that say the following: "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain."

In a year, he will be assassinated.

Since you speak with such authority, ...that must mean you must know something.
I think that warrants a serious visit from the Secret Service!  >:(
...and I hope you get one, ...or two, ...or three or four. Just to be thorough! :P

You know after Bush was elected, people said the same stuff.  Be careful how authoritative you wish your govt to be.  Shortly after 9/11 there was a guy working out in SF California who spoke out against Bush saying we needed to be careful about overreacting.  He was visited by secret service.  When emotions are high the unthinkable becomes possible.  It would of course be a tragedy if a terrible event were to occur.  But be careful about taking what is said in jest and using it to persecute.

I picked McCain to win by 4%.  I do not have my finger on the pulse of this nation.

Everyone!  Bow, yield, kneel before the President-elect.

You people earning over $250k, you know, the wealthy, start kickin' in a little bit more income tax.

You uninsured!  You will now have universal healthcare coverage.

Now if only Obama can reinstitute the estate tax, we'll be hitting on all cylinders.

Submit to the power!  From each according to his ability, to each according to his need!

I hope we can all work together toward a better tomorrow.

Congrats to Obama.  He ran a very successful campaign.  We should enter his presidency with an open mind and evaluate from here.
