Jeff Lacey vs. Jermain Taylor
« on: November 15, 2008, 07:55:15 AM »
This is Lacey's last hurrah or it's back to being a club fighter.  He's a very desperate fighter. Important match for Taylor. He should win easily. I hope he wins convincingly so he can be a future opponent for Joe Calzaghe.

Should be a decent fight. I've always thought Lacy was overrated.

Both are finished. Taylor looked OK because Lacey is way a wash. Lacey didn't even get interviewed/mentioned after the fight. Look forward to seeing Taylor get knocked out again hopefully sometime soon?

Is Taylor gonna stay at 168 from here on out?

I dunno, I thought he looked decent for a layoff, but the Taylor who fought Bernard Hopkins probably would have knocked him out.

Taylor is going where the money is. During the fight Stewart made many comments about Jermains spending. Five kids. Entorage. All his toys. In other words Jermain Taylor is another sports success story! Taylor is no doubt moving up and try to face the likes of Tarver, Calzaghe, Jones, and/or Chad Dawson. Jermain Taylors window of opportunity is almost closed. Jeff Lacey is back to being a bouncer or jail.

jones will be there to cash another check.... calzaghe wont care much for Jermaine, too dangerous not ol enuf to fight... Tarver is garbage, Chad dawson will likely take him on after he wins another bout...Iono Jermaine is just too sloppy and wild to take seriously.

Calzaghe can fight Taylor, Tarver, Dawson, Pavlik, and re-match Hopkins. Retire at 50 wins undefeated. Jermaine Taylor wouldn't have a chance against Calzaghes confidence and constant pressure. Tarver thinks he's the greatest fighter ever. I like watching that guy get beat up more then anyone else! The fighter to stay away from is Glenn Johnson. He's a very dangerous fighter. The only time you'll see Jeff Lacey is at a night club working the door!

While that would be awesome to see.... and Calzaghe is still fighting at a very, very high level, he is 36 years old and all 5 of those guys are solid fighters. It would probably take close to 2 years or more to pull it off but if he did you could probably put him right up there, and possibly ahead of a prime Roy Jones Jr. as the greatest super middleweight/ light heavy of all time without any debate.

I don't know how the Pavlik fight would work for because it is obvious that Pavlik fights better at middleweight, and Joe will most likely stay around 175lbs at this stage in his career. He would embarass Pavlik at light-heavy.

I don't think I would be too terribly interested in the Hopkins fight either just because I don't really find Hopkins overly entertaining to watch when he is matched up with such an active fighter like Joe, he clinches way too much, and as seen in the last fight, just acts like a little bitch at times with the low blow fakes and whining about the behind the head punches. No way in hell would I put any kind of money down to watch it.

Joe would own Taylors mind before the first round was over.

I would have to say out of the five I would want to see Dawson the most then followed by Tarver, but I just couldn't see Joe fighting Pavlik unless Kelly just went on a two or three fight tear destroying his opponents and Joe would be willing to drop down to a catch weight of 165 or so.

They we're trying to promote a Pavlik/Calzaghe fight for this year. Thats why Pavlik fought Gary "the Rocket" Lockett. He was trained by Enzo Calzaghe. Joes father. Pavlik just went with Hopkins at that catch weight because he was promised 3 million. And Calzaghe was offered more money to fight Jones. Otherwise they were gonna fight. Calzaghe would humiliate Taylor. My least favorite fighter to date is Antonio Tarver. This guy is so over rated chump change loud mouth. He caught Roy with a lucky punch. I'd love to see Calzaghe tease this guy and finally put him into retirement. But Calzaghe will fight Dawson next before Hopkins gets to him. Hopkins will take money out of Calzaghes pocket if he doesn't play his cards right. No doubt Hopkins is trying to get Dawsons belt and try to wave it in Calzaghes face for a re-match$
