Modern media *does* make Rush more relevant

It would be completely irresponsible of those in leadership to pretend that their constituencies are *not* listening to talk-show hosts like Rush.

It does matter whether he is right or wrong on a given issue...he *does* matter, period.

Rush Limbaugh Responds to Obama Attack

Monday, January 26, 2009 11:26 AM

By: Jim Meyers  Article Font Size

Rush Limbaugh has responded sharply to President Barack Obama’s comment about the radio talk show host, calling Obama’s economic stimulus plan "a trillion-dollar debacle."

At a meeting with Republican leaders on Friday, Obama told the lawmakers they shouldn’t be listening to Limbaugh if they plan on getting along with him.

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told the GOP leaders during a discussion about his planned stimulus package.

Limbaugh fired back in an e-mail to the Palm Beach Post’s “Page 2 Live” columnist Jose Lambiet, saying Obama is trying to shift the focus of the public debate from the stimulus plan to the radio talker.

Limbaugh, who has referred to Obama’s inauguration as "The Immaculate Inauguration," mockingly called the new president "The Great Unifier."

"If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of the trillion-dollar debacle," Rush wrote.

"The Great Unifier’s plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me."

Limbaugh continued in his e-mail to Lambiet: "I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing 'eternal' power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy, because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy.

"Obama’s plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR’s New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would simultaneously damage any hope of future tax cuts."

Obama's $825 billion stimulus bill is set for debate in Congress this week. [See the full story about Limbaugh’s e-mail in the Palm Beach Post — Click Here.

the problem is that Rush is a gimmick.   He says what he needs to say to get the ratings, whether he believes it or not.

'Rush' is a great schtick, LOL! He's great at self promotion and staying relevant. He's like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton for right wingers.

Exactly.

However, not only do his views represent those of millions of Americans, but he also dictates to several million Americans what their views should be.

I think those Republicans in Congress who dismiss his rants because he's not an elected official are making a huge mistake.  Now, that's not the reason the GOP lost the White House, mind you, but it does underscore just how out of touch the national GOP  leadership is with its members.

What is amazing to me is that people will take Rush Limbaugh's comments and parse what they want to hear. Example, Sean Hannity asked Rush Limbaugh if he wanted Obama to fail. Rush told Hannity that he wanted Obama to fail if he was going to push his Socialistic policies then yes, he wanted that to fail. If he took a more center right view or policies, then he thought Obama would be successful.

Every Left leaning nut basically was up in arms saying that Rush wanted Obama to fail. That is NOT what he said.

Joy Beyhar goes on Larry King and says this kind of crap. And then says the Obama's are perfect. That is a load of crap....

Relentless

Rush knows what he needs to say to pull ratings.  Ideologically, the guy could probably care less about which side is correct.

So we have a few right wing guys on tv talking bad about Obama.  The entire rest of the media sucks his dick and crucified Bush.  Liberals are very quick at seeing only one side.
