It was funded and fought well...this is not Iraq. Its a SOF war, a quiet war and much different then what we face in Iraq. The drive by media wants to say that we're seeing a resurgence in AQ/Taliban ops. AQ has by in large left Iraq for Afganistan, where it can hide in the Pakistani tribal regions. U also have to look at the political and military situation in Pakistan since 2001 and see how influence in that region has continually shrunk. U have to look at the battles that the Pakistani military has lost. Each time they loose, they have brough more support for AQ and the Taliban. AQ can hide in Afghanistan, it can rest in Pakistan. It can't do those things in a population such as Iraq, who truly want peace and prosperity, regardless of democracy. Bush wanted democracy for Afghanistan but we're going to have to settle for rubble that makes no trouble.
Also NATO has been next to useless there. Many of the NATO nations have been tasked with training the Afghan army and police. They either don't do it, or do it poorly. This has sety back the whole process.
