Connelly calls people who question such studies "bullshitters". Well there are many other respected scientists who question the conclusions people like Connelly draw from these studies.
The only thing the study suggests is that more high quality protein in the diet (up to a certain point, unknown through this study) may improve body composition. If his claim of weight loss on higher caloric intake is correct cannot be proven through the study. Might as well be that appetite is lower on diets higher in protein. Even if what he says about the invalid caloric value of macros is correct, that still does not prove better body composition as long as rate of weight change is the same.
In any case, nobody denies that a certain amount of protein is required for optimal body composition.
