The RUMOR in circulation is that years ago Savage had sex with a then underage Stephanie McMahon.

I’m not sure exactly when this is supposed to have happened on the timeline of Savage's WWF career, although I would suspect it happened after the beginning of his championship reign.

Like I said above – “rumor.”

Remember that Savage was involved in quite a few good angles before leaving WWF. If Vince was as upset as is rumored, I think he’d have given Macho the ax before that.

OTOH, it does have some believability.
Other wrestlers from that time have plenty of strange stories about Randy – especially regarding him & Elizabeth.

The week after Macho left Vince opened up Raw by saying the Macho was no longer with the company and we wish him the best of luck

Yeah.
And I remember on one of the TV shows - maybe Superstars - Vince and Macho shook hands on air, thanked each other, and wished the other luck.

Vince never tried to "bury" the Macho Man character like he's done with others to leave the Fed (the "Nacho Man"/Huckster angle made fun of WCW as a whole).

Wrestling's a pretty small world, and news travels fast.
I worked a few shows with former ECW guys, who knew former/current WWF guys, who knew guys...

Wrestling itself is a rumor mill.
There are so damn many rumors circulating that, regardless of whether true or not, they're much more entertaining to me than today's televised product.

Nothing juicy; just quirky things.

Savage was very jealous of Liz to the point that he would keep her locked in their dressing room until it was time for their match.
He would come get her. They’d both work the match, then return backstage, where he would lock her in the dressing room again until it was time to leave.

Randy would occasionally go out to the bar with the boys – alone.
I don’t know where she was or what she did.

At WMV Liz was to come down to the ring before Hogan and Savage.
She would have been accompanied by security, but Savage – dissatisfied – wanted Pat Patterson to personally escort her.
I guess he didn’t have to worry about old Pat getting too close to her.

They were together for a long time – well before their on air marriage.
I don’t know what specifically dissolved the relationship.

I heard this was just BS. The real reason Vince hates Savage is beacuse back in 1994 when everyone was defaulting to WCW for the bigger paychecks, he was relying on Savage tos tay witht he company. Bishoff offered Savage a 3 year 2 million per year deal. Savage jumped at it with no notice. That's the real reason McMahon hates Savage.

If true, I’d still be a little surprised for the reason I mentioned earlier:
He and Vince had an on air amicable “farewell.”

The old man has buried former talent for a lot less than this.

Maybe Savage’s negotiations with Turner were a surprise.
Maybe his WCW contract signing was a surprise.
And his departure was definitely sooner than Vince had hoped, but it wasn’t as if Macho just didn’t show up for work one morning.
McMahon knew, and even publicly acknowledged and congratulated Savage.

Titan could do it.
Even without Savage’s permission, they could probably do the same thing as with the Ultimate Warrior.

Randy Poffo may own the Macho Man name, image, and likeness, but Vince owns the footage he appears on.
And while Macho was on WWF payroll, Vince was essentially “renting” the licensing rights to use and market the Macho Man character.

Vince is just reusing what he already paid for.

I'm not sure, I'd hope that he was involved somewhere to comment on the matches. The project was put off a couple of times if I remember correct, then back on, then off, etc.

Maybe Vince was legally covering his bases.
Or maybe his “people” had to contact Savage’s “people” regarding terms and conditions.

Remember when Jesse Ventura sued Titan over not paying him residuals on those Coliseum Home Videos he did commentary on?

Vince may have still have to pay Macho something.
I thought I read somewhere that he had to compensate Hellwig when the Ultimate Warrior DVD came out.

These wrestlers who own their gimmicks may not be able to prevent Vince from using archival footage they appear on, but they could be entitled to a cut of profits.

The most logical explanationsI've heard is that when he left in 1994 he convinced Slim Jim to take their ads to WCW with him. At that time WWE/F was in a decline as was wrestling in general and Vince was pissed that he lost such a huge advertiser. Whatever it is it must be bad because Vince will bring back anyone he thinks will make him $$$
