Am I living in the past?  Perhaps.  But I haven't really heard or read anything that contradicts what I posted earlier: 

According to the Final Report of the National Commission on Drug-Free Schools, children and adolescents consume more than one billion packs of cigarettes a year. Economist Kenneth Warner, Ph.D., estimates that the tobacco industry needs to recruit 5,000 new young smokers every day to maintain the total number of smokers (due to the number of people who quit or die from tobacco-related illness each year).

This is the only way they stay in business. 

Coca Cola and McDonalds are not in the same universe.  They don't share the same history.  Not the same product.  Not full of known carcinogens.  Night and day.

Telling people what they can and can't do with their bodies is socialism.

Beach is a socialist wrapped in a capitalists mask. I thought you were against government control Beach?

The genie is out of the bottle, so I don't expect the tobacco industry to ever go away.

But I do not care if they are regulated, taxed, oppressed, boycotted, etc. to death.

I'm with you TU.

This is a dangerous precident the gov is setting.  I am totally against excessive government control over personal freedoms.  I am all for people stopping smoking, all for banning in closed public places where it affects others and preventing direct advertising to kids but thats as far as it goes.

What if someone did the same to your business just because they found some reason to?

My issue isn't with smokers it's with the industry.  I don't think cigars are in the same category?  Don't see many kids smoking cigars.   :)  But I don't know much about cigars.

Yes I "pick and choose."  I choose not to defend the tobacco industry.  I choose not to care if they get taxed into kingdom come.  I choose to hope that they are one day either regulated or boycotted into bankruptcy.  They are a scourage on society.
