deadliest warrior- gladiator vs apache warrior
« on: April 11, 2009, 10:02:11 PM »
im not sure if anyone posted something about this yet, if someone did sorry for posting it again. this show is awesome guys. i know its not mma but its combat in its most brutal yet technichal form, its basiclly a show trying to see who would win if a apache fought a gladiator.

they have chuck lidell on the show using gladiator weapons on heavy bags and sides of cows hanging, they have a modern day apache warrior using his weapons trying to prove the apache,s had the deadliest weapons and where the best overall warriors.

the also have a dude who is a specialist using the weapons of the gladiators, to be honest so far its a tough call. the advantage i see going to the apache is from a distance using the bow and arrow, i see in medium range the gladiator with all his choice of weapons and armor would prevail.

the show just ended and they said according to the computer ::) that the apache would prevail, i didnt agree but thats just my opinion, i thought a gladiator would maul a apache in real combat

i just watched the same show and agree the gladiator would win if he got anywhere close to the apache.  i am a fan of brute force as opposed to fancy fighting anyway.  i was watching whats his name i think jb penn fight on spike tv and he started the fight coming right out swinging and outright acting like he was a pit bull.  thats just what i like anyway.  can't wait for the gladiator and samuri deadliest warrior

did you laugh when the apache was trying to break through the gladiators helmet and the apaches weapon broke? i was rollin man, did you see how pissed the apache dude got? also i thought the apache dude was pretty arrogant towards everyone, yeah man, the next show on wed should be great, they have the vikings against japans samuri warriors. should be awesome toe2toe,  also the episode we just watched will be on again at 9am this morning on same channell(spike).

im going to start recording them this morning on my dvd player and try to collect the whole season, i thought that hand blade chuck lidell had, the piece where your whole forearm slides right inside it and you clip it shut was awesome bro, it cut that cow in half with 1 strike, it went through the ribs and everything. thanks for the cool response toe2toe

I agree, a very cool show. I would like to know how their "computer program" determines wins. The one thing that Apache had by far was the long range weapon. I don't know if I was reading the screen right but it sounded like 80% of the Apache fights were won because of an arrow shot.

The problem with Gladiators in this seneario is that they didn't have long range weapons in the arena, but Roman soldiers did. I know it's nitpicking but it would have been better if the scenario's were broken down by location. If a group of gladiators were walking in the woods and were attacked by Apache Indians then the Apache would have the advantage, BUT if a group of Apache were captured and thrown in the Colosseum then the Gladiator would have the advantage.

Either way cool damn show.

I have to say it was entertaining- but logistically, there is a huge problem in comparing a roman gladiator with an apache.

Think about it- They were comparing a Gladiator, which basically amounts to a solitary mercinary trained to fight one on one in close combat before a crowd against the Apaches which were basically an army of men trained to fight other armys and armed groups in long distance ( arrows), mid range (axe) and close (club) combat. IMO its a little bit of a foregone conclusion that the computer program was going to pick the Apaches.

Vikings versus Samuri is next week I think. That makes a lot more sense because your pretty much putting an army against an army.

I saw this show too.  It was interesting.  But during the reinactment, there are times where the gladiator held back with the trident.  I think that the gladiator was ripped off.  maybe a better match up would have been a spartan or roman warrior against an apache

the location of the fight would help make a better decision but if they were to just stand off and brawl the gladiator without a doubt man.

yeah i saw when his weapon broke on the helpmet.  way too awesome haha

brute force all the way for me!!!
