Bill Johnson...
« on: April 18, 2009, 03:04:33 PM »
Anyone listen to Bill Johnson podcasts on Itunes, or go to Bethel church in Redding, CA?  I think he's absolutely fantastic.  He and Kris Vallotton are both annointed and I enjoy their sermons very much.  It's what I personally dub, "advanced kingdom thinking."  Anyhow, just wanted to throw this out there.

Thanks.  I watched a couple short videos.

Do they have a statement of belief and/or a mission statement?  I couldn't find it.

Mmmmm, that I'm not sure of.  But I do know the church of Bethel is huge on supernatural healings.  The ministry of healing is a huge part of their mission.   Major testimonies, radical claims of healing cancer, deafness, blindness, etc...  People from all over the globe travel to Redding to come to Bethel.  I personally have never been there, but would love to.

Yeah,  I usually burn a sermon to a CD, then listen to it several times while driving.  There's so much to hear in the hour, it takes several listens to really get all that's being poured out, IMO.

Yeah that's tough for people to swallow.  I've never been around when a deaf ear opens, but I believe the God of the bible is the God of the  impossible, whereas, "with God, nothing is impossible, " as the scripture declares.

I guess.  But sorry, I hold the belief that God has a somewhat hands off approach to this kind of thing.

I respect you and your beliefs.   I believe He wants to show us things.  I believe He wants us to get breakthrough.  Not by our own efforts, but by our persistent prayers and seeking Him.  If you don't ask, you may not recieve, yes?  "Some of what you need in life will be brought to you, but most of what you want, you will have to go get." --Bill Johnson.  (pertaining to the Kingdom.)

Don't get me wrong, if people think that they can cure their cancer or whatever disease they have buy praying hard enough then so be it.  Or if they gain their sight/hearing back because the preacher commanded through the power of christ to heal them, which sorry but i don't believe that he would heal someone through a tv preacher.  There is something to the power of positive thinking.  I guess i don't really believe in miracles and that the word miracle is overused.  I have seen good people struggle and get beat down by life.  Some of these were faithful people.  What breakthrough moment were they supposed to have?  Not trying to argue, but i just think that sh*t happens and HE knows the outcome, so it's futile to try anything.

I hear what you're saying.  But once we get born again (sorry for asking, but are you?  did you recieve Jesus as your Saviour?)  Jesus lives in us....His Spirit...the Holy Spirit...and Jesus healed ALL who came to him for healing when he was on earth.  That gives us amazing access to the power of God. because he is the mediator, the Son of God.   NOT ourselves doing miracles, but He who lives inside us working through our prayer petitions.  But I believe we gotta go after it.  If it doesn't move you, it won't move Him.  It's hard to explain over the internet bro...but anyway, this is some of what I believe.

Here is the thing, I believe in jesus and if by born again did i go to a church if I had lost my way kind of thing then no.  I grew up Catholic but as i grew older and studied, I saw the good in all religions and thus believe that i am more spiritual than religous.  I believe that a jew that has lived a good life, will go to heaven.  I don't think that becuase some is not christian they don't go to heaven.  But like i said, i think that God/jesus deal the cards and let the hands play out.

What is your church's denomination?

I am also hesitant like Migs on a church that claims to be able to heal people (and I am saved).  I see one of the church's friend links is a Prophetess or something.  My antennae go up on that too.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that God can heal anyone of anything if that is His desire...but when people claim to have the gift of healing or prophecy, I just balk.   Probably because of all the shysters out there.

Non-denomination...just following Jesus, giving my life to him, and pursuing him daily.

Does your church ever dissuade people from going to the doctor?

Some belief systems discourage doctor visits/help...saying that the person's faith should heal them.
