Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin may have beaten the Ravens three times last year, but he apparently still greatly respects the team, as he picked Baltimore to win the AFC North.


"You have to like Baltimore,” Tomlin said, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “They won 11 games last year with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. They have a good football team.


“They have a great defense, they have a quarterback who proved he's their quarterback of the future, he's a guy on the rise. You have to respect that."


The Steelers defeated Baltimore 23-20 in overtime at home on Sept. 29, then again at M&T Bank Stadium on Dec. 14, a 13-9 contest that was decided on a controversial touchdown. The third time happened in Pittsburgh for the AFC Championship, where the Ravens lost 23-14.


The Steelers went on to win Super Bowl XLIII, their second NFL title in four years.

If I'm the coach of the defending SuperBowl champs, why would I be quoted as picking any other team but mine to win the division?? It's so funny that the coach of the Steelers gives an obvious up-and-coming team like the Ravens so much more respect than the majority of their douchebag fans.(However, I am friends with quite a few Steelers fans so that doesn't mean all of them are douchebags)

He saying the Ravens are the favorites. What else do you need to know? If it's the direct quote that you're after then do me a favor....show me the direct quote that says the Ravens are scared of the Steelers just because the organization opted not to play a night game at Heinz field.

No clue about the reason. Of course, it's just a management decision. Do you really think Ray Lewis went into Steve Biscotti's office on his hands and knees begging not to play at night at Heinz? As funny a picture as that might sound to you, the reason isn't fear of playing the Steelers.

Everytime we play you guys it's like a superbowl to us. We're talking about a 50+ year franchise with loads of history and prestige versus a 13 year franchise. It's huge. As fans we relish those games. From an ownership standpoint, I don't see how it would be any different. It has to be a financial decision, if anything.

Next year is a new year. I already can't wait. I love the Ravens home shedule this year. Don't play Pittsburgh until the last month of the season. 2 games in five weeks. I'm puzzled about that but it does potentially make those games of high stakes that late in the season.
