dont like powerlifter squat.  the wide stance and small range of motion is not impressive.

same here. Its still a SHITLOAD of weight but I would be more impressed if he did a full squat with 900

Forget about that. But what about the suit that can increase your lift like 50% ? Otherwise it's a legit lift.

I read an interview with a powerlifter a while ago and I was amused how straight forward he said in that interview that it's actually a lot easier to squat with a suit (despite the extra tonnage). It supports the lifter that much.

I can say without a doubt that is absolutely not true

Wtf is that?  Since when are underhooks and music allowing DURING the actual lift?  Was the just an exhibition or something?

That's what Ed Coan was talking about in his last interview, it's apples and oranges to compare that to a real squat.
Still an amazing feat of strength of course.

Wow, look how red his face is before he even does that lift. Also, how come I just knew before I even looked at that video that he would be a beet red faced fat guy with a goatee and that in the audience would be a bunch of shouting swearing rednecks?

Must be a strange sensation to have 1110lbs resting on your back.
No doubt about it...

Agree.  There is no standard in PL, too many federations and all kinds of different rules.

First, Chuck is an GREAT lifter.  He is one of the very best in the world.

Second, sure the suits helps, but trust me, Chuck can squat a fuckload of weight without it.

Exactly. Guys dont realize you dont just throw a shirt on, or a suit on and gain instant pounds on your lifts. That shit is hard to use. Ive had that much weight on my back before, but there is no way I could try to squat it.
