To me, this sounds no different than Howard Dean claiming that he was going to try and appeal to evangelicals, four years ago, after the Dems lost big and Bush got re-elected.

At the end of the day, it was business as usual for the Democrats. It's just that the GOP messed up badly, to the point where the people gave them the boot in '06.

The Dems stuck with their far-left base (they can't win without them); and the GOP will stick with its far-right base (they can't win without them).

The issue wasn't whether or not he is a "card carrying faith head". But, whether he was a man of faith or not.

Why is it that certain atheists here love bashing political leaders, who declare that they are Christians, UNLESS IT'S OBAMA.

Then, they start making up silly theories, like he's a closet non-believer. Or "He's lying. But that's OK, because he's one of us"?

Or, they come with some wacky mess, like TA's claiming that, because Obama's parents weren't Christians (his dad was an atheist) and the Obamas have yet to find a home church, he's really an atheist.

Again, I refer you to Madalyn Murray O'Hair and her son, William Murray. Some folks here keep forgetting that many Christians became such AS ADULTS and DID NOT grow up in Christian homes.
