Hey all you Get big guitar players.....
« on: May 05, 2009, 02:55:11 AM »
What does everyone here play?  For me it's a couple of LP copies,  EMG pickups, and D'Addario strings.  I'm going to pick up a new amp soon,  this stupid little fender practice one I'm playing now is killing my mojo.  I'm a lefty, anyone else?

'51 Gibson 350, 98 reissue of a 56 Goldtop LP, 98 reissue of a 58 335, 1963 Epiphone Riviera, custom made stratocaster. Those are my current axes. Used to have more/different ones, then I decided to get rid of some, a Tele I had was stolen in Montreal, and I decided to learn to play the ones I had. Plus I get the tones I need/want out of the above gear too.
I think in the 20+ years I've been playing, all my acquisitions came within 5-7yrs, and only made one purchase (a PodXt) since.

62" Fender Jazzmaster and have had the Original Soapbar pick ups takin out and put some seymore Duncan Humbuckers in it.
65" Fender Mustang original but thinking about putting a Humbucker in.
66" Fender Jaguar in Original Condition
62" or 63" Fender Strat

I have picked up the Fender Jag-Stang and it was the biggest piece of shit that Fender ever put out but i guess that is why Kurdt never used it while playing and when he did, he just through it to the ground.

Mesa Boogie Amps and Orange head with some Vox amps

Different pedals and Channel Changers

Doug what Orange head do you have?  I'm looking into getting an orange but I know a guy who has a Krank he's trying to unload right now too.  I think if you go British you're better off with an Orange or a Laney over the crap Marshall puts out nowadays.

All my stuff is from the sixties but i got it for like $500 but i generally use Mega Boogie Heads. I have so much stuff and i love this thread. I have some Marshall Amps and i am looking to get rid of most of their Amps. I really want to get a few Vox amps but i need to wait a lil bit. Vox sounds so beautful but they are so $$$

Everything you listed, minus the Strat-and Jazzmaster, were marketed as entry level student guitars. The Jazzmaster was supposed to take the Strats place as 'the' guitar of the future, but it didn't pan out that way.
I never cared for any guitar from Fender outside of a Strat/Tele. And even though I can get a ton of sounds out of a strat, I feel like a one-trick pony when playing it. :(

Yea, i play mine like hard and beat the hell out of them except my Jazzmaster. I have never cared at all for Gibson or PRS but i have always liked Fender. I have played a Gibson Baby les paul and that one has me interested. I never ever liked the necks on Gibsons. I have never understood the price of Les Paul's, i just see it as a piece of junk and at 5k  ::) It may not be a piece of junk but i am not paying that kind of money for that guitar. The Gibson SG has me somewhat interested. I had a chance to buy a Telecaster that Buddy Holly supposedly used but passed on it and i thought that he always used Strats. I have some Japanese strats that i just destroy and i mean, "really beat the shit out of them." I treat those like Kurdt did.

I really have mixed feelings about Fender Guitars.  My first Guitar was a MIM Strat and I loved the neck but I could never get the sounds out of it I wanted.  What kind of Marshall stuff are you getting rid of Doug?  I actually have some old Fender gear I want to get rid of.  Primarily my Bassman head.

in 1975 I got a Harmony acoustic with the standard Mel Bay guitar for beginners...lol.

First electric was a Series 10.

I now have a fender telecaster jap version that I have had since 1989.

I have an Epiphone masterbuilt acoustic that is awesome.  Never goes out of tune. Got it 2 years ago.

For recording I use Sonar or Adobe with Guitar Rig as a plugin plus a host of other bullshit.

I occasionally use a Pod as well but mostly use my Fast Track USB.
