Unluckily for me I stumbled onto this thread prior to my first quad workout in over five weeks. I was hoping for some inspiration and it started off well but kinda started to suck after the first few posts. So I went to the gym and cranked up the ipod with a whole bunch of easy listening classics - no point in putting on the hard core training music when I'm I'm kinda bummed out.
Did the following - 15 min cardio on the treadmill and about 1 minute of stretching to follow.
Five sets extensions, then 8 sets of squats (no leg press at me gym), then 6 sets of heavy extensions. Attempted ham curls but got scared...I've got an old hamstring tear from years ago that if not warmed up and stretched properly locks up. Lesson to self - train hammies first then quads.
Now just waiting for the good ole quad pain to settle in...I love that shit.
Take my advice son...First warm up with 45 on each side. Maybe 4 or 5 reps max. Next, load that squat rack or whatever it is with about 6 plates per side. Then, several people at the gym will be waiting for you to do it,watching. Let them wait a minute and do some deep breathing, grunt, or scream something. Now, you should have an audience. Here is the moment of truth.
Pretend like you just got an important cell phone call and leave it on the bar. That's the getbig way. You can say "last time I squatted, I had 6 plates per side."
