Along with today's comments that President Obama wants to create MORE unemployment so that Black people can get more welfare and reparations  ::) , this all goes to show that Rush is a fat racist piece of garbage.

Politically incorrect.... Of Wanda Sykes, Rush Limbaugh and the decorum patrol

I initially had some reservations about delving into the issue of free speech as it relates to the current climate of who and what actually borders on the edge of what is appropriate or otherwise. When I heard that Wanda Sykes was going to be the guest comedian at this year's White House Correspondent's Dinner (WHCD), I was a bit "uncomfortable". Not because I did not think she did not belong there, but because knowing who she is as well as her penchant for testing the boundaries of political and social etiquette, I did not think she was necessarily the right choice.  Such an occasion, I felt, called for a comic who could straddle both edges with a certain sense of ease and situational assuredness.

Now, I must say she performed rather well and far exceeded my expectations of her, giving the setting. The one "snafu" however seems to have been related, as expected, to a certain provocateur-in-chief by the name of Rush Limbaugh. Here, she ostensibly tries to link or associate the mouth of oxycontin with the 20th hijacker of 9/11 while also wishing grave ill-health to the "whale of a man", in response to the latter's declaration that he hoped the policies of the new President and his administration (consequently the United States Government) would fail. So now, we have all the feigned outrage, started as usual by Fixed News, unfair and unbalanced as always, and then rather surprisingly carried on by some mainstream outlets who felt she went too far. Too far?! Now, this, I thought to myself, must be a joke. To say that anyone could ever go far against this unapologetic racist with his well documented xenophobic and jaundiced balderdash is really rather silly. If this society were really to live up to its ideals of equity, fairness and seek to foster the true sense of the human spirit, Rush Limbaugh would be at best, a footnote.

Rather than "bore" you with my own positions and assertions on this matter, I present to you an independent appraisal of this "honorable" American, whom Ms. Sykes has now terribly offended....

The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur (who was a card carrying Republican like myself before) recently had a piece on some of Limbaugh's most outrageous statements regarding race and it is important to note here that not only is this "refined thug" (Limbaugh) a racist, his penchant for the outrageous cuts across all issues and boundaries of society.

As part of a piece he wrote on August 25, 2007, he states:

"Just when you thought he couldn't get any lower (or any higher, maybe he was just taking too much Oxycontin when he said this), Rush Limbaugh proves you wrong. What he says below is not just ignorant -- we're used to that -- it is flat out racist:

In this video we addressed a lot of the substance of Rush's comments. You can argue that there was no need to because the comments are so stupid and offensive that there is no sense in responding to them. But what does need to be addressed and what we emphasized on the live show (but what you didn't see in the clip above as much) was the Nelson Mandela comments.

Who criticizes Nelson Mandela? Who still calls him a communist? But much more importantly, who argues that we should not have helped to replace the white government of South Africa? Only a racist like Limbaugh. The transcript is right here:

LIMBAUGH: Yeah. This is -- you're not going to believe this, but it's very simple. And the sooner you believe it, and the sooner you let this truth permeate the boundaries you have that tell you this is just simply not possible, the better you will understand Democrats in everything. You are right. They want to get us out of Iraq, but they can't wait to get us into Darfur.

CALLER: Right.

LIMBAUGH: There are two reasons. What color is the skin of the people in Darfur?

CALLER: Uh, yeah.

LIMBAUGH: It's black. And who do the Democrats really need to keep voting for them? If they lose a significant percentage of this voting bloc, they're in trouble.

CALLER: Yes. Yes. The black population.

LIMBAUGH: Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela -- who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

When I was a Republican, I thought Nelson Mandela was a living legend. He helped transform South Africa into a functioning democracy where everyone was equal without any bloodshed. Look at what has happened in the Palestinian territories and all over the world when you have ineffective leaders who choose violence instead of the path that Mandela took to get to justice. But now I see that I was in the wrong room, with the wrong people. The rest of the people in my party apparently paid lip-service to what I was saying and actually believed what Rush was saying. Did anyone of them ever care about Mandela or the injustice in South Africa at all?

How can anyone say they are a proud Republican anymore? I guess if you disavow all of the people like Limbaugh (and the torturers, and the ones who support wars of aggression and the people who violate the constitution, etc.), then you might be able to begin to rebuild the Republican Party. But what you can't do is claim you support Rush Limbaugh and still pretend not to be a racist.

Remember, Rush earlier in his career also told an African-American caller to"take that bone out of your nose." Let alone his nonsensical comments about how people in the media rooted for Donovan McNabb because he's black and rooted against Rex Grossman because he is white.

None of that matters now, because now Rush's racism is irrefutable. He argued against replacing the white government of South Africa. I guess if he still had it his way, the black citizens of that country -- and maybe our country as well -- would still be under the thumb of white people. I guess just like Rush dreams about."

Concluding commentary:

I must insist that much like Ms. Sykes brilliantly articulated, there really is no difference between the thinking of Rush Limbaugh and that of a certain Osama Bin Laden.... remember him? They both wish ill to the United States of America by fiat and design respectively. Call it what you may, wishing that the President of the United States fail is essentially akin to wishing that the world's oldest and most successful democracy fail. Both (Bin Laden and Limbaugh) share the same desire to see that the policies of the American government fail, thus ensuring that the nation's standing at home and abroad is sorely compromised. No, I don't think Ms. Sykes went too far; on the contrary, I think she did not go far enough. For the sake of my son and future generations of Americans, I sincerely pray that the policies of this administration or any other U.S. administration succeed, in as much as they portend a continuation of the noble principles and ideals this nation was founded and continues to evolve upon.
