Hubertus Strughold, later called "the father of space medicine", designed Nasa's on-board life-support systems. Some of his subordinates conducted human "experiments" at Dachau and Auschwitz, where inmates were frozen and put into low-pressure chambers, often dying in the process.

Well...they could have ignored the data gained under these circumstances...and the concentration camp victims would still be dead and the data used by the Russians.  Some people object to the employment of Strughold in the NASA Programs.  It should be remembered however that Strughold's participation despite his past had contributed to the admirable result of the United States being dominant in the post war years...
